CoH, they've always had those roots, even in their early discs. it's just a little more prominent now.

@jsullysix: But the influences from country and blues became more obvious after the break between "Mommy's..." and "Prison...".

agreed. but if you listen to the instrumental opening to (i think) "it's the law" on prison bound, you can hear the country in there.

Right. The complete "Prison bound"-album has a huge country/western-vibe.

I love SD. The only bad apple in their bunch was their recent cover of the Clash's Death or Glory.

"Lords of Dogtown" soundtrack. I never saw the movie or bought the CD, but I heard the track on a college radio station. Thought it was ironic how the combination of two bands that I absolutely love could turn out so blah. Just my opinion of course.

                You be the judge:

Growth is good but in my opinion adding all of that on dilutes the band to much. Given that Mike is the only member left in there is not alot left to dilute. I tend to be a purist and in the original format to me they were their best. I have seen them 5 times only one of those was with out Dennis. I really like old Rolling Stones, I went and saw them on the Steal Wheels Tour and was dissapointed. When GnR came out they were awesome live and I saw them three times on the Appetite tour. When they did the prerelease touring for Use Your Illusion and they to me just lost that rawness with all the other BS added in. All that said I would still go see SD because of all the good memories and the music.

Great band, & I agree Prison Bound was when they became more rock/country/blues oriented in there material. The early days w/ mainliner & 1945 were the punk/garage band sound.

For as long as I can remeber Gibsons & Marshalls were Mike's rig.

I didnt hear Dennis died... what happened?

He died from a brain aneurism(sp) while moving into a new home. One of those things that was very unexpected and a real shock to everyone around him.

All the times I saw them Mike either used two of the retro tweed Peaveys or Fender reverbs. He was generally going for that twangy sound.
