musical genius? hahahahahahah

well, you know, you have your opinion and I have mine.

anyone who can play drums like that, light up a lousy band like Nirvana into superstars, and then pick up the guitar and write KILLER songs and hooks on 5 albums in a row and make that new band way bigger and more successful than Nirvana, and play guitar, and sing, is a musical genius in my book.

I didn't say he was Hendix or Eddie. but he can do it all, and better than most. plus he's funny as hell and cool as fuck. he's one of my rock idols for all those reasons.

I hated Nirvana and FF are my favorite band.

when your catalog consists of songs that use power chords 97% of the time, basic verse/chorus cookie cutter song writing, and no sort of individualistic playing (drums OR guitars), then there must be a shitload of musical geniuses on MTV

Funny, I never cared at all for his drumming--not nearly enough groove for my taste. But he does write some really good guitar riffs and progressions. I like the Foo Fighters about a zillion times better than Nirvana, but I have to admit that Nirvana was alright when they dared to get weird, like on their last studio album, though it wasn't really my cup 'o tea.

Saw them last year at the Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans. It is a small club. It was a good show, but it was so packed that it was misery. We actually left early. We also got way too drunk to enjoy the show.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Dave is (IMO) one of the better writers of modern rock today. It's too bad Curt Cobain didn't capitolize more on that. They would have made a great writing team, but Nirvana was all Cobain as far as most of the writing. I think I read somewhere that Kurt got 50% of the royalties from the music and 100% from the lyrics. Dave and Chris N got 25% each for music alone.

Daves a great drummer too. Not in the way that Bonham was or Pert is, just a great rock solid drummer.

Dave is a very good rock drummer, hard hitting, keeps the time and he plays only with one kick drum pedal and can play faster with it than most of the drummers in rock/metal.

I wish Cobain would have just gotten a job at Starbucks instead of making records.

that is b/c his idol has always been John Bonham, he played all kinds of Zep growing up, so he has all those kind of chops.
