Bill only you would have mentioned Sanctuary LoL I've actually become freinds with Van the drummer the last 3 times they've been down here their good people Van & the singer Dane write all the lyrical stuff some with the bass player Buttler, who has been with Warrel Dane since Sanctuary. Loomis ofcourse writes almost 100% of the music with Van & Buttler. Hey Tim check out Dreamming Neon Black also very well done CD & Now that Andy Sneep is back in the studio working with these guys Production is at full quality again.

Buttler? Is this some kind of nickname for him, I thought his name was Jim Sheppard?

I've been listening to TGE and though I'm not TOTALLY sold, one thing is for sure... Jeff Loomis is an exceptional player. He definitely comes up some very challenging guitar parts. The overall level of musicianship is very high. The singer is the biggest obstacle for me, as are some of the lyrics. It is definitely growing on me though. I'd like to get another disc to check out.

Re: while I\'m at it, what\'s the deal with nevermor

Van said I reminded him of his best friend and roomate ..we and the band kinda just hit it off and became friends..I gave Tim Calvert ( Forbidden) my police badge..he was goin' nuts about it..so I gave it to him..I had plenty more..

I gave one to Satch Too..he used to wear it on his strap sometimes..now my badge is prolly in Satch's underwer drawer..how awesome!!

I see no comparison between Queensryche and Nevermore..more of early fates warning maybe..more progressive for sure..and dynamic..

but If you want to hear a Queensryche clone "Lethal" first cd titled "programmed" is Tate NAILED in every way possible ..great band Lethal..they have three out and their second just so happen to have ex-Nevermore guitarist Pat O' Brien (Cannibal Corpse) on a demo track that kills.

If you guys dig Nevermore there is a few bands out there trying to cop there sound/style ..one new band is called Communic on Nuclear Blast..it's blatant when you hear them..

I would put Nevermore in the same camp as bands such as Evergrey and Eidolon , and another really good new band called Dyecrest ....but Eidolon never had a strong vocalist IMO..Their last singer Pat Mullock was an improvement over Brian but he bailed..now that the Drovers are with Deth..I'm waiting to see what happends....I would like to see another Eidolon with a class act singer such as Ripper / Aymar / Lance King / Dc Cooper..hell anyone polished would be great..

anyone hear Pharoah "after the fire" with Tim Aymar of Control Denied...it's great american maiden with strong as hell vocals..I always thought he should be in Iced Earth when Barlow ..but I hear he has some pretty bad habbits that are getting in the way...what a shame ..because that fucker can sing!

          Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

Everything Nevermore has done has been awesome! It actually took me a few listens to get into the new album as much as the others, but I really love it now. I guess I would start with the old stuff and work up to the new stuff. I was into them from the beginning and just got each album as it came out.

Re: while I\'m at it, what\'s the deal with nevermor

I'm reall glad to see most people enjoying this band ..I have been a freakin' Groupie..for such a long time..and I thought I'd never see the day where they are getting the recognition they are getting...they deserve it..

especially during the bleak era of Nu/Rap "metal" (metal for dummies) well you can't dummy down music anymore than that BS....all cookie cutter crap!

I believed that there wasn't any hope for the music I loved and the bands I admired getting the recognition they derserve ..Finally!!!

It was only a matter of time before something so good can be contained underground so long before their awesomeness can no longer be denied..

It is so refreshing to see and hear a band like this getting Attention..

Jeff Loomis will be on the covers of GW in no time..It's inevitable..they more people hear him..they more they will share the joy with others..just as we are.

Some cool instrumental things going on (eventhough they do not appeal to me) and a singer/lyrics that could go head-to-head with any korny (pun) nu-metal band in an angst-joust.

                [/ QUOTE ]

                lyrically..you're way off.

Korn lyrics = my daddy abused me...wah wah wah

Nevermore lyrics = Existentialism....questioning existence and why society behaves as a whole, how it does.

You obviously haven't taken a serious look at the lyrical content of any nevermore album.

Vocally then. I can not stand such whiny vocals. Puts me off completely, no matter how much virtuosity is underneath it.

You think they sound whiny? First time I've heard anyone call it that. The Smashing Pumpkins, now that's whiny.

I can see how Warrel's voice may not be for everybody, but whiny and nu-metallish?!? I don't think so.

Well evidently, I do. Sorry if you don't agree, but that's how I feel about his voice.
