Nope. Check out their website for some audio and video clips. http://www.nevermore.tv/downloads.php

thanks for posting that link! I also had not heard them before.

man, talk about a full out sonic assault. I really like their bridges and changes a lot, and the drummer is completely sick! not into his lead style so much, but he's technically incredible. I'm gonna get this new cd and work backwards from there as was suggested.

    good band!
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I see no comparison between Queensryche and Nevermore..more of early fates warning maybe..more progressive for sure..and dynamic..

        [/ QUOTE ]

There has always been a lot of Queensryche in Nevermore, I'm not talkin'g about the heavyness etc. I'm talking about arrangements, melodys, vocal harmonys, chord progressions. All Queensryche. Both Seattle bands, and Loomis has mentioned them many many times as their early influence.

Ok, this has been my 3rd attempt at giving Nevermore a shot. I've inquired about them before and was told pretty much what has been said in this thread. Take 3:

          not my thang

          at all

          My opinion stands as is

Not sure what it is about them. Don't bash me for these are my opinions but here's my take: I find the vocals horrible but ive always hated that opera style, i.e. geoff tate, style vocals. I find the guitars, while technical, to be highly unlistenable (if thats an actual word). Yeah, he's fast, taps fast, but.......yeah.......thats about it. Who cares about the bass player. Drums, eh.....he's fast to. Thats about it. Every song I heard, I struggled to find the groove and melody. It was all "fast music.....enter opera vocals....enter fast tapping solo.....que double bass drum.....enter more fast guitar playing.....". Not here to bash em at all, if your into em, more power to ya. Crank the shyt and enjoy yourself. I'll be the guy in the corner with my headphones cranked to Led Zeppelin IV

No biggie. The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things. And Nevermore certainly doesn't 'play it safe', so I can understand why they might turn some people off.

Re: while I\'m at it, what\'s the deal with nevermor

I have had this disc in my truck for a couple weeks now. My kids even know the songs well enough to sing along.

I liked two songs right off the bat and now I'm getting the entire disc. They are just that kind of band. You will not find their groove instantly unless they want you to...Like My Acid Words".

I have been a fan for years too and I have also met them and they deserve every ounce of recognition they get.

Stayed and played there asses off(DHIADW tour)even though there was only about 60 people there. (Armature promoter)

Hung out with a couple of us back stage for a couple hours. I actually had to tell them I had to go...lol cuz they were telling us tour stories, old pre grunge Seattle stories and Van was getting Steve loaded. Steve actually had to get himself outta there first. Some one was there with a bag of BCs finest weed but, they were too busy BSing. It was very cool. I filmed most of the show. I asked first and Warrel said it was cool.

I have to say Van really plays his ass off on this album. His best playing IMO.

Re: while I\'m at it, what\'s the deal with nevermor

                Nevermore .......

yes they may have been "influenced" by this or that..who hasn't....Loomis' favorite album is "Ride the Lightning"..he told me that years ago.

But NOTHING sounds like Nevermore..not even close.

DRIP.. nailed it about Warrel lyrics ..

To know Warrel..and his dynamics..you need to really hear what he's doing..he's always harmonizing in a way that I never heard anyone ever do...since the day of Sanctuary..Timmy "Ripper" owens and I were talking and he "WORSHIPS" the ground Warrel walks on....he's at every local show of theirs..right there with me...well, we all know that Tim can.."sing".

he's up there watching Warrel..like I'm watching Loomis.

Warrel is a very gifted frontman and singer/writer..but yes I've said before his "voice"is an aquired taste..not everyone likes Nevermore at first listen..in my experience..amoung friends..but these are friends that are NOT down with alot of "metal" in general..my observation...they usualy like 80's stuff like queensryche or maiden or 'tage , ratt , dokken , whitesnake , tesla , white lion , winger ..and that's about it...and they can easily listen to the radio and be happy or content...it's comfortable , "familiar" territory..and Nevermore is isn't "familiar" at all...they are very out of the norm!

Nevermore is not a band that you can throw on and judge in a couple seconds and go NEXT..

Yes if you have ADD ..thy shall not understand Nevermore..this is what your reaction is..I've seen it..

with a couple of friends I had to actually sit them down and point (with my finger) to the speakers and show them what was going on..I did that twice to two friends that hated them..and now they love Nevermore..a duhh.. I saw them on the DHIADW tour and Opeth opened for them. Most of the people left after Opeth I guess because it was a Thursday night and everyone had to work early the next day. I didn't know much of Opeth at the time and didn't care, just went for Nevermore. I got up right in front of Jeff Loomis after most of the crowd left.

nevermore is the most underrated "underground" metal band today. Dead Heart in a Dead World is absolute perfection for me. drummer is amazing, guitar player is amazing (and now that they have steve smyth, he is amazing as well) and warrel is amazing. great songwriting, great techincal abilities, heavy as fuck!

yup NEvermore is openign for OPETH.

I worship both bands. Mikael Akerfeldt is a goddamn genius...his vocal range is Incredible....and I believe the overall versatility of Opeth's music...they have been able to recruit alot more fans recently. They attract the Death Metal people, prog fans, and the 70's fans. Some poeple like their heavy epic stuff, and alot of new fans prefer the softer meloncholy side (sp?)

Anyway...yeah Opeth is the dominating force in the metal underground.

They broke inot the billboard top 100 with Ghost REveries!

NEvermore sold 5000 copies of TGE in its opening week..compared to 15000 by Opeth.

                              oh and by the way...

the Opeth tour's support is split up between Pelican and NEvermore.

Pelican is on the tour for the first half, then Nevermore joins the tour at the Kansas date.

so West Coast gets Pelican (a very interesting, doom/instrumental/experimental band. no vocals at all)

                              East Coast gets Nevermore.

you should all go and check out pelican as well though...there shit is mesmerising!

I wish all three toured the whole time.

Pelican is like Isis without vocals and for me they are the only band who can pull the all-instrumental thing well.
