Re: michael angelo batio guitar clinic

One of my friends went to his clinic all the way in Paris and he said it rocked and Michael was a really nice guy, HELL he even got to play his Friggin' Double guitar!

He took pics with everyone, I've got the pics and video and last thing I'd say is that he sucks. Imho going to someone's clinic with a biased opinion just to see how you can tear him down some more is below all.

I do appreciate your pictures though, the Dimebolt is legendary!
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

I saw the Dimebolt at NAMM in July and was wondering, shouldn't his guitars be with his family instead of on some morbid tour for Dean?

I've seen MAB before at a clinic, he is a weird dude no doubt.

He did play, but he spent most of his time telling us how he auditioned for Kiss. He said he didn't get the gig (duh), but everytime he runs into Gene Simmons he always takes the time to say hi to him

He did put on a show, very technical. He played along with a track. Not much feel, but feel is not what he was showcasing.

I think he's just a weird, nerdy guy who can shred like a mad man

I saw Micheal Angelo at a clinic at Motorcity Guitar a few months back. I was there browsing and stumbled into it by accident. I have to say that I walked away more impressed with him than I was prior to seeing him live. He had decent tone (borrowed Marshall DSL's and a Korean Dean!), good bends and a decent vibrato. His playing was clean, fast, and precise.

He is very strange and very cocky. That kind of turned me off. I have to say that the highlight of the whole thing was when a kid asked him if that was his real hair Needless to say he gave a disgusted look and went on to the next question. Vai and Gilbert are probably the most normal out of that bunch. I met Schenker after a show. (signed myticket )
and al lhe said was well grunting noises. His english aparently still sucks. Or he's just still baked.
I have a mutual friend of Michael Batios's and hes been clean for years. He might've been sick. Iv'e seen Batio a few times and he's always left me speachless and wanting to burn my gear. He's cool with people he knows but alittle off with people he doesnt which is pretty typical. My old boss at MGR ran into him at one of the stores selling a cpl of his marshalls. He was very nice and accomodating. Frank asked him if he could show him how he did that over and under neck jumping thing. So he said sure and showed him. It was funny seeing frank try to play it after that.
Batio is a bit off but hey arent we all?

If I were his family, you'd bet I'd want them locked up in a nice display, BUT, there's a very cool "intangable" about being so close and seeing a true rockstar's guitar. I think it likely means more to the many fans of his who get to see his #1 axes up close and personal, then hiding in a vault or display that only his family can enjoy. I think it's cool that the family lets these guitars go out like that, because lets face it, you COULDNT put a value on them at this point. IF there was, it would be very high, and the family obviously wants the fans to see them, and stand in awe!

Re: michael angelo batio guitar clinic

I met Batio one eve. Nicest guy really, seemed cool and not even slightly drugged.

I didn't sense weirdness either, maybe it was a good night. He was stressed over both his Rhino amps blowing out due to crappy power in the club though.

Definitely a serious player. DEFINITELY does not suck. You might not like what he does, and he may get boring to some. But the dude smokes a majority of the players I've seen.

Agree with Cleve

All the times I met Mr Batio he was quite pleasant and definitely not weird.

he is not weird but he is very hyper(as in using coke interlaced with 2 much speed) and I can understand why someone who is not into Micheal would get that impression first time you see him on stage
(but ofstage he was quite relaxed when I met him so it could have just been nerves)

I can't go to his clinic tonight in Frederick, MD (even got a free ticket offer from a friend)

That dude is the single most precise shredder ever, from what I've seen. You can critique other aspects of his playing, but wow, if I could only have 1/10 of that guy's technical ability, I'd die a very happy man...

Re: michael angelo batio guitar clinic

Met him 5 years ago at a guitar clinic when he was promoting Washburn guitars. Doing the same thing now for Dean. Spoke with Michael for a few minutes before we had somewhere to go later that day.

My impressions? More quiet and introverted off stage, On stage - extroverted pitchman / fast technical player w/ 2 neck gimmick onstage for flash appeal.

If this guy was doing this in 1984, he would be a much bigger deal if promoted correctly. Michael could have been huge in the right band. Let's put it this way. many below average players became famous / rich because they were packaged properly from a marketing standpoint. Very down to Earth. Does not suck as a player or personal standpoint.

Hair? Probably not real. Nothing to be ashamed about if its a wig - he should just shell out for an expensive one or shave his noggin and grow a goatee. Looks like a dried out mass of hair with no part. Doesn't look natural - he should just change stylists.

He's got to be around 50 years old, so he's probably thinking he still looks 28. Music is a youth business. If he was a 50 year old actress, he would be getting botox, hair extensions, and breast augmentation to stay competitive in the marketplace. He should just upgrade his image with the times a little.
