Another new guitarist for Arch Enemy

Arch Enemy have now settled on Fredrik Akesson as a replacement for Chris Amott (guitar) for the continued “Doomsday Machine” touring campaign...

Michael Amott comments:
“This guy, he just simply kills on the axe!
Rhythms and Leads – he’s really got a shredding and musical style. He was down here rehearsing with us last week and we had a great time playing music and hanging out. We are eagerly looking forward to hitting the road again, this time with Fredrik on board the good ship Arch Enemy.“

Fredrik Akesson, born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden first picked up the guitar at the age of 12, discovered Michael Schenker at the age of 14 and has been hooked on the “shred” ever since! Other early influences include Uli Jon Roth, Yngwie Malmsteen and George Lynch.

Over the years Fredrik has lent his awesome guitar talent to such varied artists such as Talisman, John Norum, Krux, Tiamat and his own (now defunct) group, Southpaw.

Fredrik Akesson comments on joining forces with Arch Enemy:

I was really thrilled when Michael Amott called me up and gave me the opportunity to play with Arch Enemy. I am excited about going on tour with them, and to meet you all.

he's a very good player..the stuff I got him on doesn't really shine but I can tell he's very good.

I knew Gus G wouldn't gel with the band..

Gus is great..but just not the right dude IMO..

Gus is tradition 80's neo classical from the YJM school..which is great but not for AE..

even in Nightrahe..he plays the same kind of solos..

Jeff Loomis would work fine..but he'll overpower the band and make it Nevermore..with a chick growler..

I think Chris Broderick would have worked of Jag Panzer..

Actually, I kind of agree with him - the last disc I really like is "Burning Bridges". Since Angela joined, I think they've become very "paint by numbers", although I did like some of "Anthems..."

the last 2 or 3 albums have been run of the mill cookie cutter metal just like every other band on the big 3 labels these days. angela is a joke

I agree...arch enemy has been BORING. the last 2 albums have sucked. they hit their peak with Wages adn Burning Bridges.

and now that chris is gone...eh, theyr'e not really worth my time.

Drip..Chris has to be doing Armageddon full time or something..yeah it totaly blows that he's not in that band.

I can't really see any other person taking his places..they're BROS..that's big time chemistry!!!

No he hasn't. He went back to school. He's not doing anything with armageddon that I've heard.

a nice though though. Armageddon was cool (the band, not the movie)

Oh drip dude what a waste of musical talent..

well it's good that he's going to school and all..I'm sure AE was paying the bills..after all these years ..they finally break thru to nearly mainstream and he bails..

oh well...he'll be back..

I like Chris he's the firey one...Mike is melodic and firey too..hell they sound great together..

Maybe Chris was a little mad because I think he wanted to sing..he can sing very well..there was talk of him singing of this ..but no

Maybe Chris should front the band..that would be better..

BUT angela did put them on the map...put a decent lookin girl in a "death" metal band..dudes are going to want to see that...most dudes anywoo...obviously..

I remember going to a AE/Nevermore show..there was 50 people there...maybe..

Add Angela..BOOM..success..

Doesn't mean Chris would be the same thing, but something in the back of mind tells me he will get back to the music somehow.
