Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

[ QUOTE ]
I agree 100%- i love REvolution and Furious George is absolutely brilliant. His take on All Along The Watchtower and I Want You (she's so heavy) are staggering. When someone does a remake of a tune whether it's theirs or not, people will initially cringe. I don't know how many times i have seen a show and the guitarist changed the solo or extended it. The first reaction is WTF? But then if you think about it, they are just making it more interesting. How boring is it to play the EXACT same # of measures or the same notes every damn night.
When i heard SRVs version of All Along, i was just blown away. After Hendrix i thought there was no way to make it "better" and i use that term loosely. But Stevies version just kills. Not better really just different.
Now George has done the same thing. Listen to The I Want You solo too. When that solo kicks in.... Fuuuuuuuck George is MY Crosby or Rhoads or whoever you want to insert.... He continues to be relevant 20 years later just like Robbin or Randy or Jimi or SRV would have been if they were with us.

Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

Lynch was my single biggest inspiration/influence behind Randy. I really wanted to like that album but I HATE all the detuned guitars and overall mudiness to the album. Guitars don't have to be tuned down to "W" to sound heavy. The main riff to "Its Not Love" had balls to spare. Accept's "Balls to the Wall" is one of the heaviest riffs of all time in my book.
I'll give REvolution another spin as I haven't listened to it for a couple of years now.

Pics of what, TEKKY? Namm stuff with George? Excellent!

George has always been my number three guy, behind EVH & Uli. George can do no wrong in my book - everything was Don's fault.

Actually, the pic is of the Fusion DLX that I got from him.

I do have a pic of George and I and then of Kristi and George from NAMM, but I don't have that here. And actually now that I think about it, I may have lost all of them when my old hard drive went kaput.

I like Furious George more than Revolution.

Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

Kiss of death is arranged VERY disjointed IMO..the meter is all over the place..he starts it at half speed..then goes to normal tempo..then back to half , but not as slow..??..then back to normal tempo..

But the shredding during the tune is awesome..but I wished he picked a tempo and stuck with it...it has good moments but loses steam when he slows it down..sounds like it's just "dragging" along.

It would have been GREAT if he played it at normal tempo..or at least an "even" tempo..

Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

I got the first two Lynch Mob albums when they came out, really dug them. I stopped listening to George after that, because he just bored me. I still love new Dokken, though.

Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

I've been a big fan of the majority of the stuff Lynch puts out. I was disappointed in the Stonehouse project and the Lynch That Stole Riffness, but I got them anyway. I keep telling myself that Smoke This was recorded by some other group.

Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

I don't know, after borrowing Sacred Groove from a friend of mine and listening to it a few times, I just hated it, especially Mandy Lion's vocals... but for some reason I didn't mind his vocals on the WIII project; probably because of the killer rhythm section of Jimmy Bain and Vinnie Appice. Then I heard a few songs off of Smoke This and thought they sucked, too! I also saw Lynch Mob a few years back with Oni... it was Oni's birthday, and he was wasted, couldn't remember lyrics to a couple Dokken songs, George's tone was horrible and he turned his back to the audience most of the night.

Joe WWIII "when god turned away" with Joe Floyd is great..their last one with Marc Storace is a bit lame..Storace actually sound better on this than he does on that Krokus (that was aweful) ..

OK paris is Burning is cool..this thing has been playing for a while now..

After today I think I'll be all Lynched out for a while..

Re: Lynch Mob - REvolution

I am a huge Lynch fan and he was/is my biggest influence. I didn't care for Revolution as a whole. Some things were nice but I really haven't listened to it much.

Furious George was nice as it opened me up to other songs. I had heard most of them at one time or another but I wouldn't say I really listened to them.

Sacred Groove is my favorite Lynch record.
