    Speed is just a tool, if used right it is great. If overused just for the sake of the wow factor it sucks...

    My experience is that people who were too lazy to developed their skills and can't play clean and fast, throw out the feel card when discussing shred.

    The other problem is players who work at speed feel the need to over do it so its easy to say they lack feel their style, they also often have no style of their own because they are too busy cramming notes in a measure of music. I love fast playing but if it isn't melodic or make any sense it's useless. Rusty Drooly is a fast mofo but his stuff says absolutely nothing to me musically.

    I agree if a player is developed in technique and speed as they "mature" as a musician (not a technician) they should add other elements to round out their craft, bending, melodicism, vibrato and feel.

    Once you reach a certain BPM/NPS it becomes a blur.

                  Ok,I have watched this a few times now and as awe inspiring as it is,imho,it's useless.every time I see it I expect to see a Starbuck's logo at the end....
                  Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....
