Re: Ozzy Speak of the Devil DVD

I have a DVD that contains some audience shot footage, one show is the NY Pallidium show from '81 and the other is the Chicago Diary show. The quality isn't all that great. It also contains the "After Hours" gig from '81 which is pretty cool. If there is any muli-camera angle footage out there, I'm not aware of it (not that I'm "in the know", but nothing has been posted on the RR board either, and those guys dig up EVERYTHING). Could you post it?

Re: Ozzy Speak of the Devil DVD

Brad Gillis was offered the regular gig for Ozzy's band but turned it down to go back to his band Night Ranger. Ozzy wanted him to be the permanent player...for however long "permanent" would have been in that band.

And IMO, if there was any pro-shot video of Randy playing with Ozzy available, someone from the Rhoads board would know about it by now...they are true Rhoads historians over there...anything else is just rumors. There's After Hours, the Palladium show, a couple of songs from Chicago, and a short clip of some soundcheck footage from Texas. And besides the Quiet Riot footage, that's pretty much it AFAIK.

Does anyone know where the live band footage that was shown intermittently during the Crazy Train video is from?

The "After Hours" gig, recorded in April of 1981. If you look on Ebay, you can find it easily.

Thanks. Is it good? Is it a normal length set?

Re: Ozzy Speak of the Devil DVD

It was recorded in a TV studio, and they play I Don't Know (Les Paul), Mr. Crowley (PDV), Suicide Solution (minus solo)(PDV), and Crazy Train (Les Paul). It is pro shot, and the better copies have great audio. Randy rips it up!

I've heard there is more complete footage of the Speak of the Devil DVD, with all the between song banter, but I haven't found it... yet!

I wouldn't buy the After Hours stuff from ebay, you can find really good quality video for download, if you look around a little.

That's what I remember hearing *before* Rhoads died.

Another little known unrelated fact... Most of Judas Priest's album Painkiller was written before Turbo and was actually going to be on Turbo.

Re: Ozzy Speak of the Devil DVD

I saw both Diary shows, one with Randy in Feb 82 at Detroit Cobo and one with a Brad a few weeks later in Ann Arbor. Brad is no Randy but he was the ultimate professional. I had front row tickets, he never missed a beat with 5-6 high school kids in te front row with their middle fingers stuckup in his face the whole night. Brad would walk right up to the front of the stage where we were and was totally unphased by us and the entire crowd, he just played through it and was pretty good in hindsight. Flipping him off was being kind compared to other stuff people were doing. I actully sent him a couple emails telling him I was sorry for doing that when I was young immature and stupid, them man was just doing his job. I'd like to get this DVD just to see how good he realy was playing Randy. I love his playing and tone on Speak of the Devil.
