• Porcupine Tree

I discovered this band after watching the Lamentations video. I haven't heard much of them yet but what I have heard so far is pretty cool. Anyhow they are coming to Chicago to do two shows at the Park West with Robert Fripp in order to film a DVD. Might be a good show if anyone in Chicagoland is interested.

They've been pretty popular as an underground dark prog band for the last several years... they don't do much for me, but their fans are rather devoted...

Apparently Mikael makes a guest appearance on the new one. Is it worth picking up???

Yeah, I picked up the previous one and it just wasn't metal enough for me. I guess I should try and listen to them on their own merits but I was expecting a bit more.

Re: Porcupine Tree

I like them quite alot, I have bought their last two albums and spent many joyful listens with them.

I also saw them live on April 17th, it was a very good show! Very professional.
Although Anathema gave them kind of a run for their money, because they were much more enthusiastic and emotional on stage - those who have seen Anathema live probably know what I mean.
But still I enjoyed Porcupine Tree a tad more, I think... I just like them.
Check them out, they definitely make good music.

Well no, they aint that hard metal. But if you have the change to see em live. go for it. Amazing! They really can play their instruments!
And maybe you should hear 2 albums from different periods.
