Went to see Steve on Wednesday in Stockholm, here are a few pics. Thanks to swedish JCF'ers (en stor stärk en från mej fyr er!! )I was able to go to an in-store that mr.Vai did before the show!
I'm not into the whole fan vs. idol thing but I figured it'd be cool to hear him perform on the Legacy in the store.
I didn't bother to get his autograph, but instead I plugged my own shit and gave him the adress for my music online
Steve arrives..I'm not sure but I suppose it's his son in front of him.

He didn't play at the in-store, but just did the signing thing. I just asked him if he was gonna play anything from Alien Love Secrets (my favorite of his work), but he said he wasn't going to although he had a couple from that album that he had wanted to do. I wished him best of luck, and split.
Eric Sardinas opened up for him later, which was really a great show...I'm not into the blues scene, but this stuff was great. I met him in the audience later when Steve was playing and he was really cool and down-to-earth, I asked him about his gear he said his amp was based of the Knucklehead, but it was customized. He played Dobro hollow-bodies and at the end of the show played part of a song with a beer bottle for a slide which was a really cool trick and he still sounded great doing that!! (I have a pic of that further down the page...)
anyway I went to hard rock cafe to grab a bite and a beer before the show, and they had this really cool Dime memorabilia:

and also a Dave Mustaine KV1..what's leftovvit

Steve Vai with Billy Sheehan and Tony MacAlpine on Keyboards/guitars...

The show was good, but the biggest letdown was the fact that Mr. MacAlpine barely played any guitar at all, in fact he was stuck to the keyboards for most of the night (he was however amazing with the keys, did a solo that was nothing short of stunning)
Sheehan was great on the bass too, did arpeggios and played a lot using just his fingers, but the drum solo and bass solo were a little too long and kinda took the guts and drive out of the show. When MacAlpine was allowed in on the guitars, they had a couple of harmonized solos that were amazing, you know how Steve does full-note bends in steps like he starts off with just 1/8th note then proceeds to the full-note bend, they both executed this in perfect timing every time, it was amazingly precise.
you should go see mr.Sardinas if you like a rockin' blues show!
let me know if you want bigger pics of the Dime ML
