"cookie monster"..."heavy downtuned guitars doing the same type of rhythm"...I love when people generalize my tastes. Honestly, Avenged Sevenfold (I refuse to use that retarded abbreviation) remind me a LOT of Helloween at times, and I think if they rewrote the vocal lines and got someone that didn't sound like a whiny pop-punk/emo bitch they'd kick some major ass.

Not sure if you listened to there first album but the vocals were alot better, he could go anywhere from a strong power voice to screaming to normal, unfortunaly all the touring he blew out his vocal chords and it is hard for him to sing in anyway but the way he sings on the new album. I hope he is going through training, i miss his strong powerfull voice.
I listened to helloween in the days, and yeah Avenged sounds a little like them, but more like that style of music and not as much them. Technically avenged is alot better and they truley have bought back some of that old style metal.
You know i was listening to the CD today and the one thing that i cant understand is for some reason whoever produced it did a crappy job on having the bass player come through. I mean at certain points it is almost like he is not even there. Maybe it is me but i think there should be a really thick and meaty bass section, you can hear it on bat country but on most of the other songs i am like where is it.
