Re: Sykes equipment from Whitesnake?

Didn't Coverdale and Sykes have some sort of falling out?

They have in more recent years. I'm not sure about back in the day. Sykes and rest of the band who appear on the '1987' had already been let go by Coverdale by the time album came out. The band parts were recorded in 1985, but Coverdale injured his vocal chords and couldn't sing for awhile, so that delayed the album for a couple of years, and he fired the band (maybe to save money?) while he was waiting around to heal. Sykes also added some guitar parts for the American release of the 'Slide It In' album in '84. He joined the band after the album had already come out in Europe, but Geffen wanted a heavier sound for the American market, so Sykes went in and replaced a lot of Micky Moody's guitar parts to add a heavier feel and more blazing solos. As far as I know, the only song where Moody's parts are still intact is "Slow and Easy"--the slide guitar on that is played by Moody on both versions of the album.
There were single versions of "Here I Go Again" and "Give Me All Your Love" were rerecordings that have different guitarists. I believe that Dan Huff was brought in to play the guitar on one of them, and Vivian Campbell played the guitar solo on the single version of "Give Me All Your Love," which was his only recording while he was in Whitesnake.
