Nope, too busy being mezmerized by his guitar playing, and just too straight to look at his ass.

it's pretty safe to say paul gilbert can do just about anything he wants to do on a guitar, and as mesmerizing as his playing can be,i never liked the racer x tunes that much at all. mr. big, i don't lose any sleep that i don't own their music as well. i did however at one time on both bands when cassettes were the thing, and now that i am 227 years old, i think the songwriting is just a little lacking in racer x, not as good as mr. big, and still just not that great as a song as good as all the players were. there's only one appetite for destruction, one physical graffitti, one fair warning, etc. i'm still hungover from the crowes on saturday, what am i trying to say here-lol

Re: Paul gilbert solo

I think the major premise behind the first incarnation of Racer X was about "hey look what we can do with our guitars!" No, the songs weren't the strongest, but that's not really the attraction.

I always say that I was a Mr. Big fan before they put out their first album. The moment I heard that Paul and Billy were working together, I knew it was going to be incredible. The tunes were catchy with plenty of the flash that Paul and Billy are known for.

Now that Paul has been writing more, the latest incarnation of Racer X is a bit more song-oriented with some of that old flash. It's kind of a mix between old Racer-X and Mr. Big. I'd still love to hear what they would sound like if they could bring Bruce Bouillet back.

Re: Paul gilbert solo

Racer X was a cool riff and solo oriented heavy metal band. Mr. Big was an awsome band, these guys wrote a lot of great songs. Paul Gilbert's solo albums are also very good and song oriented. I basically love all the stuff Paul has done.

I really like Pauls playing...he has it all and really can do anything. I saw Mr. Big at a bar in Houston called Backstage, pretty small venue. Both Paul and Billy were great live.

Paul gilberts great- I got a few of his solo cd's cool. I dig the latest incarnation of racerx songs are good and the guitar playing smokes.

Did anyone ever see the MR Big on Leno when both Paul and Billy brought out the makita's. Same week ozzy was on with Jake when leno first took over.

I've got the Live in San Francisco VHS where they do it. Not as impressive as what he did in Racer X, but still impressive nonetheless.

Paul kicks ass. The solo for "Miss Mistreated" rules... The solo for "Superheroes" is jaw dropping. That last note is amazing. Where did he get that one from?!

Anyone know the specs of the guitar?
I'd love to take his guitar for a test spin.

Wow. Unbe-freaking-lievable. Coordination between hands to get that precise, clear, articulate alternate picking of each note is amazing. Just amazing.
