Opeth... The Grand Conjuration RULED ALL! Akerfeldt has a weird sense of humor 'nuff said!

BTW, who played drums? I just saw the video for The Grand Conjuration, and Gene Hoglan is playing. I know Martin Lopez has been ill and they were supposed to have another replacement until he's better.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
Drip ..was that dude with them live..this time around.
I love Bloodbath and especially Witchery ..do the "W"..

Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

The biggest problem is that they followed the intensity of Nevermore..from Nevermore to Everbore.

Exactly what eaeolian and I were saying after that show. How the hell do you follow such an onslaught? It was the same as Metallica blowing Ozzy of the stage almost ten years ago.
[/ QUOTE ]
no not really. If you guys paid attention, the majority of the crowds were there to see Opeth. Nevermore hasn't sold Half as many albums as Opeth has in the past 3 years.
you can only hope that Nevermore impressed the majority of the crowds that attended the shows, and I still feel

Uh, Drip, I paid attention, and I don't have to "hope" anything. Opeth was very good, yet I heard many of the same comments we're making here from the crowd that night as we were chatting with people as they were leaving. Nevermore simply had better "energy" and presentation, at least at Jaxx.
It's not a competition, BTW - both bands are allowed to be good.
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.

yup. Martin is the blonde haired guy on the drums. Mikael introduced him several times during the show.
....yes i'm fully aware that both bands are allowed to be good. I don't like it when people dog on a band that is the favorite of quite a few people on the forum (Opeth) and dismisses them as "boring" All you have to do is say is Nevermore did a great job. If you didn't like Opeth that's your problem, everyone comes across as insulting to the band and their fans. So I take it kind of personally.

You'll note that I never said I didn't like them - in fact, I went out of my way to state that I did, as Opeth is one of my favorite bands - I was commenting on their live performance. At Jaxx, at least, Nevermore put on a better performance, and I noted the contrast. If you want to take that personally, well, there's not much I can do about that, but that's not going to stop me from pointing it out.

And Opeth fans in general are divided on Nevermore, about half of them enjoy Nevermore alot and are big fans of Loomis. The other half hate it, due mostly to Warrel's vocal approach. (gay power metal...etc is how they describe it).

*shrug* I guess it depends on where you catch them. The crowd here in Springfield, VA went absolutely crazy for Nevermore. The roar of the crowd at the end of songs was louder than the PA, and I would not have stepping onto the floor during their set. Lots of intense moshing and thrashing. The front row was filled with flying hair the entire set. You could literally feel the energy level drop when they left the stage, and Opeth never brought it back up. Where Mike and I were sitting in the back lounge during the back 2/3 of Opeth's set, we must have seen a minimum of 50-100 people leave early.
I was really, really looking forward to this show, for all three bands involved. I found Opeth a complete let down, and will probably just satisfy myself with their awesome CDs in the future. If I want to see people stand in one place and play, then I'll wait for King Crimson to come through town again.
Drip in Mathematics...you just stated that John is GREATER than Opeth..
Is this True??
