• King Diamond/Andy LaRocque appreciation thread

Anyone here a huge fan of King Diamond and/or Andy LaRocque? I've been into Mercyful Fate since '84, Andy is by far my favorite guitarist. Saw them here in Detroit last spring for the 8th time and the show was killer, great sound and playlist.

yeah, KD and MF are GREAT!!!!!!! i actually prefer MF a little more because it's more "classic" metal, especially "don't break the oath".

i really dig KD up to "the eye", but "fatal portrait" is by far my fave KD record.
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I still maintain that "Abigail" is the best rock-drumming record of all time.

Micky was awesome when I saw him live with KD back in the day, as well as on the Dokken tour

I listen to "Melissa" often..."Evil" is the coolest tune ever.

Back in the day on the Abigail tour, I got a chance to hang out at soundcheck and check out their gear. Andy was using Marshall Silver Ann. heads, a Boss OD-1 and an Ibanez delay, and a pink Hamer Steve Stevens model. (Well, it WAS the 80s!)
