I could never truly answer this one, because a singer to me is such a big thing in a band and i can only get into a band if i get into the soinger. so i have many different favorites from many different styles of music that it would be unfair for me to try to pick favorites.
Ooh, tough question. I think I´ll have to go with Steve Perry. He can do just about anything, and sound great doing it. Bryan Adams has a great voice for AOR and melodic rock, so he gets a honorable mention too. As you can see, I´m not really a big fan of metal... but Joe Elliott in his prime kicked some serious behind, as did Sebastian Bach.
Ronnie James Dio
Jeff Scott Soto
Bruce Dickinson
The dude who sang on the first 2 Vandenberg albums.
But I'd have to say my favorite singer of all times is that no voice guy who's on every single instrumental album I own That is perfection at its finest

MD, if you'd added early Geoff Tate I'd swear we were seperated at birth!
Also, a quick nod to the female singers...Toejam mentioned Kim Goss and someone else said Tarja...good choices. The singer from The Gathering is pretty awesome, but I can't remember her name.
Pepper Keenan
Maynard James Keenan
Layne Staley
Don Henley
Billy Gibbons
Kate Bush
Ronnie James Dio
Lawrence Gowan
Tori Amos
Bob Seger
Amy Lee
Rob Halford
Steve Perry
Pete Townshend
Rik Emmett
Just a few off the top of my head. I don't really care if someone has a huge vocal range, I prefer singers who have unique voices, or voices that have lots of emotion.

Oni Logan was great on the first Lynch Mob cd, and then poof, he's out of the band and I've never heard anything from him since. I remember reading GL saying something about OL being indecisive in the studio and flip-flopping around on how he wanted his vocals to sound, apparently it drove GL crazy and he went and got that Robert Mason guy for the 2nd Lynch Mob cd (which was nowhere near as good a cd as the first one).
has Oni been gigging with a local LA band since then? I think GL took him from that Ferrari band IIRC.

Hey give Robert Mason a chance! He completely smokes! Check out the 2nd Cry Of Love record to hear what how good he really is.
