Re: Favorite Shredder

[ QUOTE ]
Actually, I just got through listening to a ton of Stevie Ray Vaughan and I am adding him to my list of shredders.
He is absolutely the most viscious player I have ever heard.

[/ QUOTE ]

Without a doubt. Attack like nobody in history. I would have loved to hear Stevie on a speed machine with a ton of gain. You know, he sweeps on Tin Pan Alley. He could do anything....it is tough to choose between SRV and EVH. But, I left SRV off because of the blues orientation.

Otherwise known as complete mastery of the instrument. The dude is an alien. He is beyond mere mortals.

Re: jeff loomis = amazing

Alot of guys have amazing technique what makes a guitarist truly great is the ability to play with feeling and emotion. Only one player I know of could do both to unparalleled levels. Jason Becker.

SRV and Al Dimeola deserve mention in their respective areas of rock as well. Al may not shred anymore but check out Casino, the man has some serious chops and can play with a ton of emotion. Ditto to SRV.

I disagree. Alot of shredders just try and play as fast as possible. Like its some sort of race. There is no emotion in that, just technique.

The most melodic shredder of all time is Vito.

I disagree, if they want to play as fast as possible then there is CERTANLY some emotion in there, such as "uhhh-ahhhh I can do it, I can do it, arghhhh, aaaaaahhhhh, faster faster faster, push, push puuuusssshhhh...oo boy I'm fast" it is still an emotion, only different.

I agree, everything some one plays has an emotion behind it. If it didn't, he/she would be a robot with a gun coming out of his left thigh.

I guess if thats what you think but I still don't agree. Alot of shred sounds exactly like that to me, robotic. So your never gonna be able to really convince me that all shred has emotion because I sure as hell don't see it. There is also a difference between the player being driven by emotion and the actual music have emotion.
