    Re: Favorite Shredder

well Marty is one of my favourites too, he said (pretty lately) that he can pull off the Cacophony stuff with EASE, his technique is only improved. I've always concidered him as a shredder, most of the time he plays tastefully but when it's time to woodshed then he can blaze all those arpeggios and shit like a mean motherfucker.

I don't think Holdsworth would like to be called a shredder. He would probably prefer to be called a "musician" or something like that. I personally think of him as a shredder though lol.

I love all of the shredders that have been mentioned! There are many different styles of playing within the shred genre! I really like Kee Marcello's playing on the Europe albums and I also really like Carl Verheyens playing although he wouldn't like to be called a shredder either.

Well, to me there is only one choice:

          EDWARD VAN HALEN

I agree with you as a guitarist, but not as shredder to me.

Actually, I just got through listening to a ton of Stevie Ray Vaughan and I am adding him to my list of shredders.
He is absolutely the most viscious player I have ever heard.

                  Choose one:

                  a) Petrucci
                  b) Petrucci
                  c) Petrucci
                  d) Petrucci

Seriously, he's really the only guy out there right now who does it for me. A coworker loaned me a Satriani DVD and I was bored to tears.

Watch some hebimetasan.. Marty can still bang out Cacophony.. and he can do Slayer riffs perfect! Thats impressive for someone who plays pretty pop music now.. although his latest release with Aikawa is pretty rockin, everyone should check it out =]

Just listen to that version of Puffy Ami Yuri's song by Marty and Paul Gilbert, They both can shred like no other still
