What a gig. To start the night off, Throwdown opened the night. As many of you know, Throwdown are one of those new Hardcore bands (like hatebreed). Although not the whole crowd were into them. They were pretty good. They covered A New Level by Pantera which sounded pretty cool (no solo though). Although they didn't really fit in with the intensity of the other two bands, they showed alot of respect to everyone in the crowd and had a pretty good presence. Guitarist was using a Mesa Rectifier with a Washburn idol with twin EMG 81's. At some points i thought his sound, sounded similar to Korns, ergh.
Next was SYL. Before they even came on stage people were screaming for them. They were easily the best band for the night in my opinion. Gene Holgan is a frigging machine on drums (as well as being stupidly big in person). Devin was hilarious too, making jokes in between songs and taking the piss out of himself.
Arch Enemy was next. Opened with Nemesis. To be honest i though these guys were lacking something, i really don't know what, but they didn't do much for me as much as SYL did. Pretty good guitar tone (although Ammott's lead sound was a little thin). The new guitarist fitted in very well, using a Les Paul custom with 3 EMG's. An amazing guitarist and really good stage presence. The drummers solo was amazing too. Really good drum sound for the night too. They played some really good songs and sounded great at points. But then at some points i just wanted to leave.
Overall an amazing night and i had a good laugh. So if you missed these guys, that's too bad, you really missed out on something
