I'm with you this kid has chops but to me it is just a bunch of scales thrown together with no meaning or purpose other than to impress. It really does seem that he starts something and then jumps to something else, with too many abrupt stops. I just think his guitar solos should be more fluid.

But hands down he is a way better guitar player than I.

those are not "playing scales", he performed very nicely a piece by Racer X (Paul Gilbert) called B.R.O (short for "Bach Rip Off") and then he played a piece by Cacophony that I don't recall the name of right now.

No,the last one is a Racer X piece too. It's called Frenzy. And yep,the first one is B.R.O (Bach Rip Off).
