Dudes did you ever see this Hendrix / Cream 60s tribute video set with most of Racer X I believe...called "Electric Fence"..I remember it being VERY cool! [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

I just had Hawaii on the other day..Marty was VERY young and he kicked ass then..I have "The Natives are restless" cd..I wish I had a copy their other one...they should re-issue it.

That was fun, wild video. Why can't we get cool shows like that on TV here in the US?

And both my wife and I were amazed to hear how fluently Paul and Marty spoke Japanese. Of course, it's not like we could really tell ourselves, but the hosts seem to think they were doing OK.

They actually spend a lot of time in Japan. Sadly, they're more accepted there than they are here. Unfortunately we, as Americans, on a whole listen to what the media tells us is good. This is why we can't get a f*cking Racer X US tour.

My senitments exactly. That's why only Japan got an Extreme reunion. DAMN! I would have LOVED to see one of those shows.

Metal NEVER went away in Japan ...not in our not so distant past ..in the days of Ebonica and Nu...Shred was still COOL there... [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

I know this because I had to buy 35+ dollar import releases for ten years of some of my favorite bands including Whitesnake (Restless Heart) and TNT (Firefly) and many others that were NEVER released here in the states because it wasn't marketable nor percieved cool....now they re-issued most of this stuff now cheap of course because solos are cool again....thank you VH-1 "Metal Mania"..and George W for that...he put the squash on the ebonic plague (oh thank you)..with the FCC...I saw right thru that agenda...Stern was at the top and well ..shit rolls down hill...he had Stern's head on a platter on display to any rapper that wanted express his freedom of speech...NOT! Think about it, during the whole Clinton admin..not a solo was to be heard in the mainstream and nothing but hip hops and R & B owned everything ..because Clinton well he was like a brotha chasing the azz...he gots dat Macdaddy mindset...YES it's political!!

Besides..Marty LOVES oriental/ asian modes..and music..and incorporates that into his own playing!

That was a television show called "Hevi-Meta-San" (Mr. Heavy Metal). It ran for about a dozen episodes on late night TV here. A game company had released a wrestling game for the Playstation called "Heavy Metal Thunder", and the show was produced to promote the game (the only ads that ran during the show was for the game).

I went to high school with the Japanese host in NY, back in the 80's. He (Ken Ayugai) and his brother (Toshi) had a band called "Kiss Relish" back then. Looks like we're both living in Japan now.

There are hotter Japanese babes, BTW. Google "Ryoko Mitake", for example [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

it was hard to sit through some parts of this vid, though its worth it for the awe inspiring guitar playing. not a big fan of gilbert, but marty is one of my guitar gods.....cant wait for his next record to come out. i think on his site it said something about the end of march as a release date.

anyone else find it funny when marty played seek and destroy when 'm' came up in that game and then they asked him to play a megadeth song? that was a nice chuckler.
