Re: Death\'s drummers!

Bill Rules!
Last I heard him play was in Massacre in '92. I think Gene has done a lot of good stuff since '92 so I'd call it a draw.

No love for Bill "I wanna be Dave Lombardo" Andrews?

[/ QUOTE ]

Bill Andrews was one of my favorites, as was Gene. I've been a fan of Gene's since his Dark Angel days!

what I like about ITP..is Andy Laroque..

Definitely. That lineup is made up of some of my favorite metal musicians. You get Andy Laroque ripping up the fretboard and then you get Chuck pulling off a solo, all the while Gene Hoglan on drums and Steve D on bass...

Re: Death\'s drummers!

Back in 89, when Death was touring with Dark Angel, we had a chance to open up for them.Unfortunately, no one in my band was nailing the chick from Z-Rock who was in charge of getting the opening act.I joined the band that did a few years later.
I got to hang with the singer for Dark Angel , Rob, for most of the day.He gave me the card for Combat records A & R GUY, and told me to send them a promo pack and he would give them the heads up to check it out.Right after that, Combat folded and I never got the chance to use that favor.

In 1991 i was in L.A. and went to an 18 and over bar in annahiem, and Gene was there drinking Cokes and hitting on the 18 yr olds.He was super cool and told me about the demos DA were working on.

Cynic is untouchable!! Nice to see another Reinert fan!! Check him out w/ Aghora!!!! Not that I don't like Gene/Richard! But SYL is holding Gene back, and Reinert is lost, Richard is wasting his talent w/ Stern! Note that if you haven't heart Richard with Burning Inside check that out as well! As sick as it gets!! Quo Vadis's drummer is my new favorite though!! Yanic Bercier is his name, and he's wicked!!!! Quo Vadis definatly picked up where Death left off!!

Re: Death\'s drummers!

Reinert isn't with Aghora anymore...He is now with Aeon Spoke and it's just very basic drumming.

SYL isn't holding Gene back...Gene likes playing that way...He said he was proud of what he did with Death but, the drumming sounded like throwing a drum kit down the stairs. Personally, I like the sound of drums being thrown down the stairs I guess.

Ya Reinert only did one album with Aghora like he does with everyone else! Aeon Spoke is a joke, for such talent! That includes Masvidal!!

And hell ya SYL is hold Gene back, regardless of what he wants to play! I think they suck!! I always though we shoulda went straight from playing with Death to Slayer!! But yet I tend dream a lot!!

I LOVE Cynic...you must check out the Willowtip band roster ..bands like Arsis, The Alarum (very cynic-like) and Capharneum...

but of all tech fusion Death...Symbyosis OWNS...then Theory in Practice..IMO!!!

Check it out...you won't be disappointed...Martyr and Sceptic is cool too..I love that kinda stuff...I try and find and buy all that I can find.

BTW...Spastic Ink is the some of the most INSANE stuff ever recorded!

Reinart, definitely. His approach is just totally different. After that would be Hoglan...

I've never really "got" the Christy thing. He's good technically, but his playing is uninspiring to me. I hate the way he tunes his snare, too...
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.
