1) John Petrucci
2) Randy Rhoads
3) Michael Hedges
4) Angus Young
5) Tommy Shaw (not a spectactular guitarist, but a good overall singer/songwriter/guitarist, and the reason I started playing)

And we still haven't touched on some great guitarists such as Danny Gatton, Les Paul, BB King, Scotty Moore, Robert Johnson, James Burton, George Harrison, Pat Martino, Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy, Roy Buchanan, Paco, Julian Bream, Pat Metheny, Brent Mason, and sooooooo many more.

I was surprised that nobody included Santana or Clapton - they always seem to come up normally.

I was also a bit saddened to see no mention of Hippietim on anyone's list

Even more surprising is that nobody mentioned Ralph Macchio. After all, he did kick Steve Vai's ass.

I can't believe you mentioned Ralph Macchio. I was sending a guitar out last Thursday at the USPS and the box was too big. I was cutting it down to size and Ralph Macchio walks in, as he lives in my town. I said, "Hey Ralph, you still play guitar ?" Long story short, he ended up bullshitting for a while and checked out my guitar too. Pretty cool guy and funny that you brought him up !

Someone else mentioned John Petrucci! Thank god!
