              I read almost every post (some where a little long).

              My beef wasn't with the ability but the way it was played. It sounded to me like playing fast for the sake of playing fast. Hence why shred died in the first place it became boring to watch the same guy rip through the same thing the next guy did. Look at a band like Nitro for example I remember seeing that video for Frieght train and going what the hell is this? Just cause it's metal doesn't make it good and just cause it's fast doesn't make it good either. There is a certain thing to guitar playing even with speed and phrasing and making music has EVERYTHING to do with. Anyone can practice enough and rip through scales and fast runs but to make a melody and something people remember now that is an art.

                Regardless of everyone's like or dislike opinions, we should all have nothing but, admiration for the WHOLE band having the STAMINA to pull off an entire set of these tunes in one night, and then do it again and again in other cities and countrys [img]/images/graemlins/notworthy.gif[/img]

                            I thought the playing was pretty damn good, both guys have some pretty good chops but I don't dig the tone or the production. That could be from the compression for the video encoding. Their harmonies sound outta sync sometimes and their normal tone sounds like its pitch is raised with an Eventide harmonizer or something, that or the entire thing was sped up post production. I'd love to hear this live but this one is pretty sterile to my ears and not too pleasing...sorry guys, hang me if ya can catch me [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

                            Classical music is not metal but if you play the blistering violin stuff on a strat and a distorted amp its considered metal which is stupid to me. IMHO Classical musicians are head and shoulders ABOVE any metal musician, as are jazz and fusion players.

                            The metal-head shreds it up over pretty basic harmonic structures and stick pretty much to one or two changes. Jazz cats needs a new scale for each chord underneath the lead lines, you have to be on you toes and know your shit to improvise like that

                              Just watched it again after not seeing it for a few days. My opinion stands, despite some odd effects on the guitars, these guys fucking kick ass. Killer song, bad ass drummer, amazing singer, 2 great guitar players, and a sense of humor.

                              I don't understand all the "cheesy" comments in this thread. Maybe if the singer just growled the whole time like the cookie monster then you'd think they were OK?

                                Seen Dragonforce live and they fucking kicked ass. I like them a lot, powermetal on steroids is a nice relief from the regular powermetal drab you get served 20x a day now.
