Any Death from Human to Sound of Perserverence is my favorite!! Blow your mind away!! LITERALLY!!
Also if your into prog/tech metal and never heard Cynic, Io'm sorry but you've been lost!!

I like sound of Perseverance and Individual Thought Patterns
best, but all Death is great. Death and Morbid Angel were the shit in the late 80s/early 90's. Sure I know Cynic, and Atheist. The fusion influences were not my favorite, I like Martyr a lot more I'd have to say.

I am very familiar with the quebec technical death scene. I live right across the river from quebec, the bands are always around (Cryptopsy, Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis, Despised Icon, Quo Vadis, Kataklysm, Beneath the Massacre etc.)

Try Kalmah. Swamplord is a badass album.

How about Protest The Hero! They are a young Canadian band and let me tell ya, they are inspiring to say the least. Imagine Watchtower/Fates Warning, Coheed & Cambria, Meshuggah & more rolled into one. It's progressive metal that is actually heavy! The kid's vocals are amazing & passionate for anyone, but especially for one so young. www.protestthehero.com
Another new must-get is The Shattering. They're a young Swedish bunch in the vein of Necrophagist & Spawn of Possession. Killer precision death metal with super technical riffs and excellent tight drumming! www.retributerecords.com or mail order from www.redstream.org or maybe Goregiastic Records.
Then there's Scar Symmetry. Also Swedish but more in the vein of Soilwork meets Amaran and Dan Swano/Edge of Sanity. They have tons of technical ability but write VERY catchy hooks that will have you singing and growling right along. The guitar solos are wickedly shredding (similar to Jag Panzer leads). Vocals are growls mixed with clean choruses. Easily available from Nuclear Blast/Century Media, etc.
Not sure if you'd be into them that much but the new Coprofago is good stuff. They're like Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve, but slightly more jazzy & gradually working towards a more original sound. On Sekhmet/Galy Records.
Check these out & lemme know how you like them!

I'd say stop listening to metal altogether for a while. It gets so boring and repetitive after a while, no matter how technically proficient or artistically gifted the artists are.

Like said above, expand your horizons a bit more. Try checking out newer stuff, mainstream as well as underground.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Heh - I know nevermore. seen them a couple times, I have some of their stuff. Not my favorite, as it's closer to power metal, but I like them. I hope you have the new Biomechanical cd (Epires of Worlds) if that is what you like. They work the same territory as nevermore but imo a little more interesting.

Inazone , Inearthed and Scholomance are on the right track, that is what I am looking for the most. As I said, I listen to many other things than just metal, but at the moment I am looking for newer metal stuff in the technical/progressive death vein.

Scholomance - good call on Scar Symmetry - they are cool. Not overly technical or heavy, but just plain good. Sweet. Thanks!

Haven't gotten a hold of either of the others yet.

Hmm, Check out Augury (www.augurymetal.com). They toured with Quo Vadis though Canada last year, very cool guys. Their bassist rivals Steve DiGiorgio (I like his style more actually) and plays bass in Quo Vadis as well.

Their site seems to be down right now, but they also have songs here: http://www.galyrecords.com/file-augury.html

Fragle - well check out the songs Enemy Within, DNA Metastasis, and Existenz, that would be a good introduction to Biomechanical. The guitarist is very good, but not quite as good as Loomis.

I'll second the Augury suggestion. They were one of my favorite new bands of the last year. Unique, like Obliveon meets Gorguts & Cryptopsy. Nice cosmic art & themes as well. Obliveon are a must too, esp. the early material but I liked virtually everything they did.
