The Stones were awesome. Who cares about the little technical mixing problems. No rock band has been doing it longer.

with the "you make a dead man cum" on start me up,either the sound guy did it, or mick did it himself.

Some cool equipment, but man what a horrible job of mixing the levels on the audio feed.

I was thinking the same thing while watching it! Hell, they were showing Ronnie play a solo break during "Start Me Up" and all you could hear was Keiths rhythm guitar!

like I said The Stones are great. I've loved em for a long time, saw em in 1989 at the Coliseum in LA and their sound was perfect. so I know how killer they can be, but this was an off night.

coulda been partially the sound guy's fault. as noted by Michi above Ron Wood's guitar was way down when he was playing the first lead break of the show. they barely got his level up for the last few bars of that solo.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

They should have let Slayer play the Super Bowl, then all the fans would have went nuts and thrown their seats on the field.

I'm not a huge fan, but I do respect the Stones. But that was just awful. I felt embarassed for them....I seriously think I had a red face in my living room watching that.

They were cool a long time ago.

I wasn't impressed with the show. But then again, how rock-n-roll is playing a tightly-scripted 3-song "set" in the middle of Super Bowl, Inc., brought to you by corporate America?

Come on John, let's be honest and look at the whole picture. Keef was about a half step behind the rest of the band. His lead licks reminded me of the two cats I heard fucking outside my bedroom window. Ron's slide work was bad, just plain bad. Charlie looked and played like he wished he was on a beach somewhere, minus the drum kit. And poor Mick, he twied twied twied, but he just couldn't satisfy!

One of the ladies in our office said "but Mick sure does look good and he still moves like a teenager." My response "well, Keef looks like shit, plays like shit, and moves like petrified shit."

As Clint Eastwood once said as Dirty Harry "a man must know his limitations." The Strolling Bones need to learn theirs.

For the rock and roll purists, the performance was definitely raw. After 50 years of playing the same songs, you'd think they would at least turn up the flame and give us something medium well done.

Hey Tommy, Lynch should pay me! Look, I grew up with The Stones. Much of there music is timeless. Trust me, I'm not trying to take a thing away from them. But to say that The Superbowl performance was great is nothing but being dishonest with yourself.

I love the music and skills of Michael Schenker. But if I said he wasn't a nutcase, who the hell am I kidding?

P.S. Good to see ya Tommy!

The Stones deserve their due and their place in history but be realistic, they sounded like ASS
