We used to cover Super Charger Heaven. I love that song.

Dave, I respect your opinion but you gotta know some things.

White Zombie has nothing to do with death metal.
They were influenced of industrial artists when they started. They didn't followed NIN's trend, industrial elements were their roots from the beginning. They are definetly incfluenced by artists such as Ministry and other industrial pioneers who started in the 80's.

Rob disbanded WZ in late 90's when industrial had been big for many many years.

Rob never wanted to make super technical music or something like that. His music is to express horror movies and shit or something when you drive 300mph and gonna crash etc. Rob speaks different language. He uses industrial sounds because in his opinion those sounds describe better some weird shit he feels. But he really could write SONGS unlike Arch Enemy etc. who are only about riffs and solos but never capable of writing some popular tunes.
Yes solos are back but it isn't because of the bands you mentioned, (most of the people AND big bands don't even know who they are) it has a lot more to do what the record company guys say but then again Rob is one of the few who can do what ever he wants no matter what the record company guys say.

Actually bands like AE and NM are a "bands band"...Thats what They get invited to do tours like....Ozzfest alongside people like Rob Zombie (AE) and Gigantour with little known metal act Megadeth.

Have you looked at a guitar mag in the last year?

As for the Death metal comparaison...At the time the stament was more relevant with grunge being the only other thing going on...I heard the term "Pop Death" used to describe WZ a few times...thats where that came from. Now with all the sub genras and sub, sub genres it does seem to be a bit of a streach but, his vocal style was closer to Death metal than anything els and was compaired because of this.

RZ may have been influenced by Prong, Ministry and whoever but, he suddenly shifted away from the power groove thing to a more industrial style when NIN was at their height.

"But he really could write SONGS unlike Arch Enemy etc. who are only about riffs and solos but never capable of writing some popular tunes."

But I like AE and NM songs better than RZ's...As SONGS and not just riffs and solos...So...Who is right? You or I? Or is it about the "POPularity"? I guess if thats what it's all about then...

1. 50 cent
2. The Game (Never even heard of him before)
3. Green Day
4. Mariah Carey
5. Kelly Clarkson
6. Gwen Stefani
7. Killers
8. Eminem

Are all much better song writters than RZ, AE and NM put toghther.

yup

writing a pop hit is probably the hardest thing in the world.

RB and Megadeth have sold millions of albums and appeared million times on MTV, nuff said
