Scorpions plays the soundtracks of my life since late 80s along with mighty Helloween.

        IMO;
Scorps is the best rock band ever,
Helloween is the best metal band ever.
Life can be good with right people.

Ißm a Scorpions fan too. Love the first albums as taken by force. Breakout kicks some major ass and it´s in my car stereo very often.

Yeah... Sails of Charon, We'll burn the Sky, He's a woman... I've read that Uli hated his solo on He's a woman. Man, if that was the best thing I could ever hope to do I'd be happy. Listening to the early Scorpions stuff with Uli really puts Yngwie into perspective. The influence is VERY obvious.

As for Jabs, he's one of my favorites as well. Blackout kicks major ass... there was one song on LAFS called The Same Thrill that I used to listen to over and over flipping out about all the crazy fills and lead breaks in there. And Arizona is one of my all time favorite solos period. It is very melodic and has a ton of attitude. Good stuff!

I think he played with them in Paris last year - there's a DVD of the show floating around ebay on occasion...I saw Uli 6 months ago here in San Diego- 3 hours of sheer bliss! Francis Bucholtz flew out to play bass that night too! Missed the show and the "academy" he put on up at UC Los Angeles a few nights later, but my buddy made it, said it was nuts - had lots of guest stars like Warren DeMartini, Graham Bonnett, etc...just INSANE!

Dig the Scorps, too. IMHO Jabs has some of the best tone in rock, and the guy is well under-rated.

I agree and +1 to all thats been already said about them.
They were a very melodic tight band, well written rockin tunes without the slop. No sloppy crap from the scorpions.

I really loved their "distortion" than most bands of this period.
It wasn't harsh, nor too overly crunchy or overly crispy, darn near perfect distortion to my ears. The opening of blackout, No one like you and even rock ya like a hurricaine and among others. The distortion of the guitars themselves sounded wonderful. In the past (when I gigged) I had a very difficult time trying to reproduce their nortorious distortion. A ratt pedal did okay for jam sessions in a house or garage or basement. Certain Marshalls somewhat cranked will get you close (most won't be able to tell the difference with a cranked Marshall) but Soldano's SLO's but me nearly dead on. Nothing like a Soldano imo. For the rhythms, no mods, just cranked as much as you can stand it straight through. Hit your OD pedal for the leads and your golden. Its about the only thing I found the comes nearly dead on (of course you have to twaek your amp settings, but not much)for duplicating their distortion.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Every time I think of a Soldano SLO..I instanly hear the opening riff to Blackout..that's exactly what they sound like to me..

Awesome band that's one of the most underrated rock bands. I was just talking to some guy at school about The Scorpions, Uli Jon Roth and other old rock and metal.

                            Yes sir they indeed do.
I love Soldanos man, they don't have all the bells and whistles like others but they have great long lasting craftmanship and the sound you get from a SLO or even a HR-50 is darn near perfection to my ears.

Blackout is my favorite Scorpions album. Jabs kicks ass in the studio and live IMO. I saw them twice and Jabs was great both times.

The pinnacle of Marshall tone and early euro heavy rock guitar into the now was on Lovedrive IMO.
The Scorps long career and various guitarists show the diversity of how a Marshall can sound with many different guitar setups. You got all of Uli's work plus Schenker.
When I think of classic Marshall tone and great guitar playing.. I look to the Scorps.
Kansas, Gary Moore, 70's-80's Thin Lizzy, 70's-80's Reo.. they all are considerations.

I've seen Jabs live.. I think he's a very consistant player and performer.
When I first heard him was Lovedrive era.. "Is there anybody there" was his best cut.
His following work on Blackout was outstanding.
