Re: Whitesnake - Live In The Still Of The Night DV

I have The Mob, it's pretty good, the sound could be a lot better tho.

The last time I saw Whitesnake, Reb did all Vai's solos. But he didn't had his solos performance spot. That's too bad because Reb is more advanced and versatile player than Doug. Doug does his cool melodic shredding but Reb can do wery weird and unique shit with his harmonics, whammy bar etc.

IMHO Doug should do all Sykes' solos because both are Gary Mooreish players, Les Paul dudes with fat tone, great alt. pickers, great vibratos and Reb should play all Vai's solos because both are very versatile players, both are great fusion musicians, superstrat players, whammy bar abusers, tapping monsters ya know Van Halen shool dudes.

I've heard the Mob's CD and was disappointed.
The songs are very boring and sounded like all these guys came up with some left over demo songs.
Reb's Solo Album had much better songs.
I want a new Winger Album instead.
Same goes to Doug. How about a new BMR? Where is Kal Swan??

Reb's role in Whitesnake is similar to Adrian when Vai was in.
Reb only gets to play solos like Here I go again and couple other solos where he does his typical tapping licks.
And WTF , no solo time for him?

At Donnington 1990 i would say Adrian did about 50% of the soloing, although his solo spot was about half the size. I thought he really tore it up that night, IMO he was far better than Vai (no flames, please!). Vandy has a very cool vibe, one of my fave guitarists.

Theres a video of him soloing on "Slide it in" over at Whitesnake.com

I would have liked to have seen more Reb Beach on the DVD, i know he has the chops, but he didnt seem to use them on his solos at that show (except for "Bad Boys" "Give Me All Your Love" and "Here i Go"

The sound quality was my only complaint. The whole production sounds muffled.

Toru, I wasn't knocked out by the songs at first either, but they have really grown on me the more I listen to the album. And the solo on Never Get Enough just blows me away. Love all the modal stuff before Reb really opens up the throttle.

I think if the guys really decide to make a shake of The Mob as a real band, their next CD is going to kick much arse. Their talent & pedigree speaks for itself, now they just need to spend some time writing as a band

IMO Reb is a kickass rythm player, he can come up with the coolest riffs.

Reb is one of the best rhythm guitarists, he is almost as good as Nuno
