When they performed on the Live8-show, Jon Bon Jovi's singing wasn't what it used to be... how'd it sound?

jon and richie still sound damn good vocally. although jon can't hit some of the ball squeezing high parts like in "runaway" or "livin' on a prayer". richie sambora took over the vocals on "i'll be there for you". he sounds good on that, but i'd still rather hear jon cover it.

i don't have perfect pitch or anything, but it sounds like they may be playing everything 1/2 step down now a days. although they could have been doing it for years and i've just noticed.

i also saw that richie wasn't touring with the marshalls this time around. the diezel amps sounded good. he had 2 of those and 2 4x12's, but he also had 2 other heads on top of the diezels. not sure who they were from. no logo on them. then from what i could see from the side stage view i had, it looked like he was using a boss sd-1 for solos and such. just a guess on the boss, but it had the same yellow color as the sd-1.

great band live at any rate.

I saw them in Denver a few weeks ago have to agree that it was a good show. Richie Sambora's tone was very nice, although he used a some very odd guitars this time around. I did notice two different Floyd Rose guitars and some ugly white and black guitar.

Nice to see some appreciation for Bon Jovi. I remember when they came out, they were dismissed as pretty boy girly types but I saw them open for Ratt right before Slippery was released and they floored me - completely different band live and Richie is a smokin' player.

I caught them live when they were out on the road with Extreme, and it still stands as one of the best overall rock shows I've ever been too. Sambora is way under-rated.

From what I've heard Sambora's solo stuff was very musical, good writing. I agree way under-rated.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

yeah he had a real nice les paul he played a few times. then that telecaster double neck that you see in the video "have a nice day". those floyd rose guitars sounded good, but those headstocks are the ugliest things i've ever seen.

i know what you mean on the black & white guitar. from what i saw it looked like i saw his last name as a logo on the headstock. not sure who custom made it for him.

Sambora is a great player. The entire band rocks big. No weak points at all. Great vocals, musicianship, writing and stage show. Bonjovi has it all.

I saw them on slippery when wet 7 caught the show down here in S.florida recently I think they've gotten better over time personally. Johns singing wasn't like when I first saw them but 20 plus years down the road who's gonna be But he still held his own thats for sure.
