I love Yngwie and Vai era Alcatrazz.

Graham Bonnet is one of my favorite singers.

Me too! No Parole from Rock and Roll is still one of my favorite albums of all time. I love the songs and I think it is Yngwie's best work.

Agree about the music, however, Bonnet´s singing sucked then and still sucks big time imo.

Yngwie is fat and has a strange arrogant personality (which he seems to acknowledge somewhat himself). However, imo he kicks Vai´s and Satriani´s ass big time from both a musical and technical pov.

Pretty neat.

Live version of the track Jet to Jet featuring guitar virtuoso Steve Vai

Yeah, that was an Yngwie solo, written when he was in the band. Vai didn't veer too far off the original solo, aside from some of the fingerboarding and a few other licks. I still listen to this album, on a regular basis. Hiroshima Mon Amour is still killer, in my book.

General Hospital (YJM)
Will You Be Home Tonight (Vai)

now that's some good stuff right there
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

dormant for 2 and half years, and raised from the dead to wail on Bonnet's singing and Yingyang's weight?

Bonnet is always hit or miss with me..you must understand that I have alot of underground things that most don't know about..Blackthorne "afterlife" being one of them for example..
Bonnet is either VERY good or VERY annoying!
Man, i used to have Blackthorne i can't remember the cd, i think it was their first one, but it had the big fold out D&D type theme sleeve, i loved that album,...anyway where that come from, how you derived that from this topic? :S

Edit: from above, i think the band i'm thinking of is Bloodthorne, not sure...

Bonnet is def one of my favorite singers, but yeah it's just depends on the mood i'm in weather it's awesome or annoying.
I always wondered if the dude was gay, i mean his sense of style was um, unique to say the least, but his lyrics and song topics are so unique.
I don't think Vai pulled of the Yngwie stuff very well, imo, however this song i have been trying to play correctly since back then, and since i just started playing again after 10 years it's funny i been trying to work on it again even, i still cannot get that riff down right (which really is a blackmore riff) and the interlude lick before the solo, well, i can actually play better than i could a decade ago, when i practiced daily for hours, :/
but still only on a good day or if i'm warmed up, it's hard as fuck, i remember i didn't know about alternate picking when i firt started and i tried to play it all legato, LOL, couldn't figure it out.
I just noticed Vai couldn't do it either, he tapped it, cheater

I been using these Yngwie single string licks for picking practice now, they are perfect for alternate picking practice.

That video just proves how incredible Yngwie J Malmsteen really is.

No, but watching Yngwie playing shows just how incredible he is, however, never heard Yngwie do Vai Either, so....

Yngwie is more of a improviser, and Vai is more a composer.

Both Rule.

I've heard Yngwie play every style and pull off most of Vai's techniques with a stock Fender VINTAGE TREM!!!!

I saw him detune his guitar and play it intune by varying the downward pressure on his fingers.
One more thing.... Yngwie is certainly not an improviser. He is a neo-classical note for note player. He knows exactly what he is doing at all times. If anyting... Vai is more of the improviser when comparing the 2.

I'd call Yngwie a composer. Not to take anything away from Vai.

Well, i have to severly disagree, Yngwie never really plays the exact same thing twice exactly (which is fine i like that, and theres nothing wrong with it).
Via is very organized, and probably writes music on paper when he doesn't have a guitar around ( if that ever happens ) very much like Zappa, you don't get into Zappas band and not be very organized and well rehearsed.
And live Vai Generally plays his songs note for note, Yngwie does not, i've never heard him in 20 some years and live, play the exact same thing as on record, not once.
I doubt he even rehearses much.

The Best and Most Original solo's that Yngwie has ever played in his career are the one's on Alcatrazz's "No Parole from Rock & Roll"!!!
Vai gave it a good shot and added his own flare and style to the solo's but it doen't come close to the originals!!
