  • Brad Paisley??!

Hmmm. Im not the biggest country music fan, in fact I listen to absolutely zero country at all.

But this guy just pops, twangs and spins notes out of his tele so effortlessly its amazing. He's kinds of a pop/ country singer and it can be hard to find a song where he really cuts loose but when he does he just flies. Really lively playing too, pretty inspired. If you are looking for something different for lead playing this guys worth at least a listen.

I was flipping through channels and caught him, he seems to be a great player, and makes it look SO easy.

Yeah, my daughters asked for a CD of his for X-Mas and I kinda cringe at the fact that they like country but at least it's not hip hop, so I got 2 for em. And where alot of it is radio friendly country the guy is a GREAT guitar player and if you listen to it a couple of times it kinda grows on you. But the instrumentals totally kick ass. There's one called time warp which is just killer and one called Spaghetti Western Swing which is great, another one that really stood out was the instrumental version of make a mistake (there's one with and one without lyrics. Guy's got a good sense of humor too. I mentioned him on here before and people keep mentioning Keith Urban but he's not even close to Paisley and Paisley's like a REAL Country guitar player.

I saw him this past fall in concert with my wife and he really plays a mean guitar. His style and solos were excellent and tight without flaws, which really impressed me a lot! It was a very enlightening concert. I was entertained!

Brad Paisley is definitely an awesome guitarist! Very clean and effortless style. Another one I really like is Danny Gatton. May God grant him peace.

If they'd just stick to guitar playing, I'd like country

I've seen him live, and it's night-and-day different from
his albums. The CDs are very calculating and commercially
positioned, but in concert he opens up a lot. I've seen
the same thing with Vince Gill, another smokin' lead player
who tends to play it totally safe on record, but tears it up
                  in concert...

I read an interview with Brad a while back and he said when he was in high school he played all kinds of rock music, was a big EVH fan etc., so he wouldn't be a nerd among his
                  classmates...

I heard a song of his (John 5) called Sugarfoot Rag, if I remember correctly it had some snappy chicken pickin'. It was pretty cool, the guys good. I think he was an x session player too

                        Re: Brad Paisley??!

Brad's a damn good guitar player. I see a lot of country stuff - my wife sings in a country/folk band - and a lot of those guys are excellent players. I catch the Grand Ol' Opry show occasionally - the music isn't generally my thing - usually too poppy, actually, the twang doesn't bother me - but you don't get a job in Nahsville unless you can play, and the people on there can PLAY. I caught Paisley on there one night and my respect for him went up several notches - cool gear choices (G&L and Matchless, IIRC) and nice playing skills.
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.

I used to go see Danny Gatton in DC all the time, he was amazing.

Vince Gill is also a sick country picker, but he doesn't rip it up too often.

For the most part, I can't stand country..but I can listen to the guitar parts.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

<font color="aqua">I'm actually a bit of a "guitar" country fan. I love that "twang" thang! My wife and daughter are very much country fans and aside from the slow whiney crap, there is a lot of great stuff there. These are excellent musicians and if you appreciate music at all, you ought to take the time out and watch a bit of it. As said before, it's VERY entertaining. Junor Brown has got a pretty cool -un popuplar country sound. Some interesting guitar work on some of his albums.
