I have given it a listen, and I really like it.
This album isn't supposed to be a radio friendly album. It is almost like an opera. It has all kinds of color to it. If you are looking for a return to the 80's sound, "Good Luck"! Nobody is writing songs like that now. I really like the MCII album. I think this is a great effort on there part. I would be very disappointed if they just copied themselves for nestolgia.

That is SO not true..It does exist..I own it ..alot of it..you just don't know about these bands...but there is ALOT of them..too much for me to keep up with at approx $200 a month..

Some of these bands can take you back to 1985 upon first listen..especially the AOR bands on the Fronteirs record roster...that's a HUGE source right there.!!

Turn off the radio and start diggin'..the underground is VAST!!

I would like to hear some of it.
I was listening to this album again this morning. It is really much heavier than there past efforts. Every time I listen to it, I like it more and more. That's just my opinion though.

You can listen to it for free on Itunes. I'm listening to it right now and so far it's not that bad I'm only a couple minutes in though. I totally wasn't expecting much cause to me everything since the first Mindcrime has totally sucked ass. I saw em open for Maiden a couple years ago and live they were absolutely pathetic. But so far MC II is sounding alright.

Well, it ain't Mindcrime I, but it isn't half bad. I thought Tate was solid, the guitar work was lacking in riffs and solos, and Dio was cool.

I am going to listen to it again and see if I can bond with it.

Gonna do MC I and II back to back.

The Cd is jammed packed full of solo's.
You guys must be listening to a different MCII?
Murderer has a great outro solo in it IMHO

Chris, I could not agree with you more on that exact point. MC was their last album with any balls or catchy melodies. Rage was a masterpiece. The Warning was excellent. the Ep was great.

QR was my first and most painful band disappointment. they got incredibly lame incredibly quickly and I still don't get why that happened. Empire was absolutely terrible and everything after that was just awful. this bad attempt at recapturing former glory is a joke too.

there is much better music out there.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I caught an interview with Tate on the radio Tuesday.QR are doing BOTH albums live on the tour, complete with actors and set changes. They are also riding bikes from show to show(Buell I believe) for a charity, and the bikes will be auctioned off at the end of the tour.

I hope to get a copy in the next week.

I'm not pessimistic nor optimistic about it, I don't care what the others say. Many claim that after the first mindcrime everything sucked. Well IMHO Empire is their best, then the mindcrieme, I also liked the Promised Land and the Tribe a lot. On the first albums they sounded like a cheesy Iron Maiden rip-off band.

I agree with you up through Tribe. Unlike a lot of people, I have really dug their newer material and actually find the first mindcrime to be one of my least favorites..not that I don't like it but it seems more one dimensional than the other stuff.
I saw them open for quiet riot on their Ep support tour in '82 and have been a huge fan ever since..... However, Tribe for me is when they jumped the tracks and hit the ditch. MCII for me, unfortunatley, serves as a divorce decree.
Taste in music is totally subjective so it's not suprising so many have different takes on their recording history.
You said to the first albums sounded like a cheasy Maiden rip-off...to my ears this album sound like a cheesy Green Day rip-off. I don't say trying to be funny.

While I agree Rage is more definitive QR...I don't think they sounded the same on one album to the next. The EP and Warning sounded similar, but then there's Rage that took them in a vastly different direction, and then onto OMC...which was yet another direction. Empire saw them even more "polished" than Mindcrime, and then on up the chain.
They lost me at Promised Land...

And Rich, I know that DeGarmo oversaw that downfall. That's why they're not the same to me after PL. But I think he saw where Geoff and company were heading, and that's when he let his writing fall to the wayside. (IMO)
...or maybe he just lost his muse, period. It seems like he pretty much called the shots when he was in the band. Perhaps he just saw that sales were declining and decided being an airline pilot was a more secure job? He could've been tired of the write/record/tour/repeat life for any number of reasons. The fact that the rest of the band took some bad turns after he left, doesn't mean they ran him off. I know those rumors exist, but absent a statement from DeGarmo, Tate or at least one of the other bandmembers on the subject, I'd consider it all conjecture.

This record Is disappointing, but not nearly AS disappointing as it could have been. IUt is far better than Promised Land, Hear In The Now Frontier, Q2K and Tribe. Let's remember that DeGarmo wrote 2 of those 4 records. Personally I feel their WORST record is Promised Land, followed by Tribe, then Q2K, the HITNF. That would make HITNF the least sucky of those 4 records. It is at leaswt pretty good at making a grunge QR, even though that's a bad idea they got the point across.

Anyway, we'll all feel differently about it, that's natural. It's not great, but if it sells and tours well enough for them to survive, it gives me hope for the next one. It's a shame I've been saying that since Empire, but they created some loyalty with their early work I guess. A for effort, C for content.

I'd much rather be talking about Rage's new album..you know that German Power Metal band that has been around for over 20+ years just like QR..that always were and still are a "metal" band...

You know RAGE...No, NOT "Rage against the machine" or that ancient QR album "Rage for order"...you know "Rage" the band..with Peavey Wagner, Victor Smolski and Mike Terrana..you know brand new REAL "metal"..hehee..

Guys..ummmm..there ARE other awesome metal bands out there..metal didn't die with the likes Metallica and Queensryche..

You want some GOOD "new" metal..PLEASE check into Brainstorm/Starbreaker/Kamelot/Pagans Mind/Pharoah/Nocturnal Rites/Asperity/Vision Divine/Euroforce/Mystic Prophecy/Evergrey/Firewind/ARK/Adagio/Dungeon/...basically ALL these bands carrying the torch that QR dropped 15 years ago..

You guys seem to be hanging on to old ex girlfreinds from 20 years ago..they moved on..I suggest SOME you guys do the same..

                              BTW..Van Halen is dead..:ROTF:

I'll buy the new QR when I see a used copy of it for a dollar at my usual cd exchange place..like I did with the last four QR albums..it can suck for a buck!

I don't understand what those cheesy powermetal bands have to do with prog-metal pioneers? They can't even write hooks and every album they reapeat themselves all over again.
