I love the dudes' tone on the last two cds..

I seen him on the first BW & BK tour..just a 5150 half stack cranked directly at my ear and his ol' black and beat Hamer..he broke a string and didn't have a back up geetar..his roadie changed the string and he was back in biz..

Although I really like his studio sound ..his live tone wasn't nearly as cool..I was about 15 feet from his cab..

You must remember ..studio magick..Brian May recorded most of Night at the Opera with a Pignose..

Kranks sound GREAT with Andy Sneap tweakin' the mix..well it sounds great on "This Godless Endeavor"..but it was by far Jeff's worst live guitar tone of the 5 different rigs I've seen him with thru the years..including his old POD pro..

btw, the road to devastation was recorded with a 5150.....kinda obvious, as my 5150 can almost nail that tone.
but then again, if a pod xt pro can sound just like that record in a live environment i'm starting to wonder why i'm even using my 5150 live

mmm i saw them last month at no mercy fest and they were playing mesa boogie and a marshall ?? (can't remember) while other bands used 5150's, maybe they switched.




in the last pic you can see me, i am the dude with the ponytail right up front, next to the right monitors.

They were pretty cool live..I really like the mixed 5150 tones he got on the last two cds..wasn't the same live tho..IMO

i missed the first band, and do not know what amps legion of the dead (damned?) was using, but cannibal corpse had 3ch rectifiers boosted with boss mt2 pedals, and i mailed JF regarding his rig for the no mercy tour, because as i already said their sound was GREAT and almost exactly like the record.
he said that he was using a pod xt pro rackmount through the fx return of the tsl100 he had on his side of the stage (i KNEW he couldn't possibly use the tsl and get *that* sound ), as his line 6 head blew right before the tour started.
