Gear..
Gary Holt - Custom Bernie Rico Jr's (he played the red one the whole night, the black one stayed off to the side), Peavey Triple XXX x 2 (one for backup), 4 Peavey Triple XXX cabs on stage (two for each head). Pedal board had a Boss delay of some sort, another pedal I couldn't see, a wah, and a TS-9 (solo boosts). He stayed on the yellow channel the whole night except for the introduction to No Love.
Lee Altus - Black ESP DV8 (white ESP DV8 off to the side of the stage), Two Peavey Triple XXX's, 4-6 Rackunits, couldn't see his pedalboard.
Review...
One shitty local opener (generic "metal" band, aka wannabe Pantera / Metallica but just terrible), one good local opener (brutal death metal type band, much more interesting and entertaining to watch and listen to). The touring support Full Blown Chaos SUCKED. Again, they need to keep "hardcore" "metalcore" "whatevercore" out of metal shows and metal tours.
Exodus played a damn good set with a lot of good songs from the early days (check below). Gary Holt moved a ton and really "performed" to the crowd... A true professional. Jack Gibson and Lee Altus more or less just do their thing and do some light headbanging, not much else. Paul Bostaph holds it down nice, couple of parts were a bit rough at times, but nothing huge. Rob Dukes paces the stage glaring at the crowd and tells people to fuck off or shut the fuck up or whatever between songs... Usual "I'm a bad ass" routine that seems out of place and goes away the moment he gets off the stage. Band sounded pretty tight after the second song (once the monitors were set up right). 3 of the members of 3 Inches Of Blood were there (both guitarists, shouting vocalist; the band lives in Tacoma, WA currently) and watching. For Piranha Exodus had Shane from 3 Inches Of Blood come up on stage and use Gary's black Rico Jr and play the song with them. He did the first solo and Altus did the second. Dukes vocals were decent for the half of the Baloff material, but towards the end of the set he was just screaming instead of emulating Baloff. Souza material was all screamed. Turnout was shitty but that's pretty typical of Seattle unless there are like 3 good metal bands on the bill.
Songs Exodus played...
Bonded By Blood, A Lesson In Violence, Piranha, No Love, Deliver Us To Evil, and Strike Of The Beast from Bonded By Blood
Brain Dead from Pleasures Of The Flesh
Last Act Of Defiance from Fabulous Disaster
Blacklist and War Is My Shepherd from Tempo Of The Damned
Raze, Deathamphetamine, I Am Abomination and 44 Magnum Opus from the new album
