Dimebag clinic ´93

Not to get off the subject, but i knew Dimebag back in the day. got lessons from him from 85' to 86' at Rainbow Music on Cooper Street in Arlington, Texas. He was the most down to earth guy. On occasion he would ride his bicycle to the music store (with his Dean strapped on his back) to give lessons. I was playing a peavey T-15 (my first guitar, what a piece....) and he would always say "man you got to get you a Dean."

That must have been a great experience.

I cried the day that guy gunned him down. That clinic was early 90's. Dime was always real thin till just a while back.

Sorry if it's been posted before, but well worth reposting imo.

After watching him play like that at 16, makes me at 44 want to take my guitars, pile 'em up and squirt on the charcol starter!!! Man, he was 16!! I guess there is no hope for me at 44!!!

I know this is probably a sensitive comment/question, but does anybody feel that Dime's playing kinda slid in the last few years? The guy was truly a great personality and his music has been very influential, but I've wondered if others had this same thought. I got the Dimevision DVD and his most recent solo spots were just not that impressive. Way, way too much whammy bar wanking and the Eruption snippet just sounded awful. I feel the solo spot from when he was "16" (I think he was actually a little older than that in that clip) that is linked in this thread is much more inspired. Also, I feel the Damageplan album just doesn't have the same pizazz as the Pantera albums. I know it wasn't the same band and Dime and Vin said in a interview in Dimevision that it covers a lot broader scale than Pantera did. But nonetheless, it just doesn't have the same affect on me as the Pantera albums did.
