As long as it's private it's no big deal. That's just like jamming with people on an off night. Reb's good, just not as good as George or Doug that's for sure. I've seen them all in the last 2 years.

Sorry Horns. My bad That's too cool. I see alot of people thinin' Reb is still w/Dokken.

Nonetheless . . . I hope George doesn't have 'issues' he can't resolve on his own. He's one of my faves - right along with Akira and Reb.

Speaking of Akira, I saw Loudness a few months back. He was playing so friggen fast, I could hardly make out what he was doing. This dissappointed me because some of the solos on the early Loudness stuff are incredible! Melodic and technical... kind of a Vitto Bratta/VH mix with more technique.

Yeah, Doug is great. His vibrato and tone are very, very good. He can also rip it up cleanly, and plays with feel.

Reb seems to rely on the tapping stuff he does for the fast licks. I kinda get bored of it, but I realize his talent. I like his tone on the DVD too. I saw him with Dokken a few years back and he did a great job. They gave him a bit of an extended solo on "The Hunter" which was great.

Pretty soon we'll have talked about every 80's guitar player in this thread

yep, i agree, lynch's playing in that vid was kinda sloppy at times...however, as already said above, pretty much everyone of those guitar players seemed to have an off night...in fact, judging from that vid i think i could hang with any of those guys...and i'm by no means anywhere near the level of e.g. 80s back for the attack era george lynch, so go figure....

Just wanted to say that I checked out one of that Syu guy's other bands (Galneryus) and it is quite bad ass. Their first CD is excellent power metal.

                Horns666,

I didn't mean to come off like an a**, Reb's cool. Just talking about technique in my opinion. When I saw him with WS, he was very good. He also looked like he was having the most fun of all the guys on stage. I reread my post tonight and thought geez I sound a little harsh there. Sorry about that.

i would say lynch from the past was better than Reb,but nowdays reb is way better(imo of course)as for Doug and whitesnake!he isnt bad but nothing special.Wouldnt fit in nice with any pub band over here in blighty
I haver mates who love his playing(must be the boxy bluesy pent playing)but its not dazzling enough to make me smile-and reb does that(and geo did too hope he does again!)

I can't think of anybody who's a better fit for Whitesnake than Doug unless Coverdale and Sykes would bury the hatchet. Honestly, I think this would be the first time I've heard anybody bag on Aldrich's playing.

Reb is very cool, but he isn't he pretty much the rhythm guy in Whitesnake? ...or have they changed things around for the latest tour (which would be very cool)?

I went back and watched all the old Lynch vids and there is an "issue " with his playing in those new vids. I am not that concerned with the lack of shred but his timing is totally off most of the time as well. I would bet he was on something that night, the germany clips on youtube are much better and they were filmed in 2006 as well. may his huge arms are just getting in the way.....either way he is not the Lynch that I new growing up.
Damn this is an expensive hobby.....

Can't argue...Timmons would be great in any band.

Yeah, Timmons..Damn, he got even from the days of Danger Danger..I like what 'he's doing these days..

Speaking of every player from the 80's..should I just jump the gun and post that Uberus Shreddus Maximus list I always do..

I just listened To both Doug Aldrich's "Alter Ego" solo CD and Reb's "Masquerde" Solo..that covers alot of sonic ground..two very apt and diverse players..wow.

I also like Dougs' two "Burning Rain" Cds..

BTW..has any of you bought the new Paul Gilbert cd..I'm afraid too because I didn't like any of his
"pop" sounding ones he put out..so should I get this one or not..I listen to Gilbert for shredicimal purposes only??

                                later dudes,

                                Bill
