I saw I,I, WACF, and Fair Warning tours and they were all great shows, II being the worst by far, Alex must 've been shit faced or loop on something because he was just god awful that night.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

"But obviously VH launched the careers of a zillion bands and wannabe guitar heros, so the influence is undeniable"

No you can not deny that at all..we wouldn't be here if that wern't the case..I know I wouldn't.

Ed was a huge benchmark ...so was Hendrix and even Malmsteen who opened the floodgates to a neo classical shred tsnumi..those three alone really shaped guiatr to what it is today..

yes , there's more players involved in the evolution ..Iommi, page, vai and such..but most players are from one of those three schools in some form..!!!

I'll take your word on that, since I missed them during the glory days. I'm sure they had their good nights and bad nights on every tour.

Haha, actually I would--I was an Iommi guy and didn't get into any of the guitar hero stuff until I'd been playing for awhile. I needed a little more Satanism in my music in the early stages.

Of course, if Eddie hadn't posed with those Charvels on the first two VH albums, we probably literally wouldn't be "here", since then Charvel wouldn't have made it big and there wouldn't be a "here" to hang out at.

I saw them on the FUCK tour when a relativley unknown band called Alice in Chains opened for them back in '90..I was second row center..

That was the tightest VH performance I have ever witnessed on tape and elsewhere..they were ON that night..I had friggin' goosebumps..

That opening band wasn't bad either...too bad nobody seemed to care at that time..the seats were completely empty while AIC played on with fire..I was blown away!!

The following year AIC was big time!!

Yeah Black Sabbath was the actual beginning of the end for me..my dad played the paranoid LP constantly..I knew I was even more into it than he was..

I remember hearing from friends and reading articles that Iommi was so pissed off at Ed and basically had a tantrum that this punk is ripping off all his licks..John was there for that..that tour had to be legendary..

John said VH had a terrible sound tho..prolly intended of course, Sabbath's sound was crystal clear..I hate when they do that..

A few years back Soilwork played with a bunch of bands..they were by far the most talented on that bill, but not the headliner...so the soundman f'd with their sound..the guitars were non exist..no guitars at all...I was screaming at the sound dude all night...I was like"Dude, WTF, where's the guitars!!!"..he knew..I knew...

                  assholes playing games!!

yeah the only tune I knew was man in the box..It was a shame, nobody was watching them..they were all gearing up and taking pisses before VH came on..I just sat their in awe all by my lonesome..damn were they good!!

The first and last time I ever saw AIC..but I'm honored that they played stellar all for me that night..and they played as the stadium was packed..mucho enthusiam..which is hard to do, when nobody is watching...hell, I know that from some crappy turn outs at our shows at small clubs..

One of my biggest grips about concerts, the sound. To me i goto a show to enjoy all bands and the music, everyone should get the same volume, same great sound. The headline gets there respect by being able to play the longest.

Concerts are suppose to be for the fans, not to feed the headliners ego's!
If you asked me alot more bands could make it big faster if they had better sound, i cant tell you how many bands i have seen in concert as opening bands and was disgusted, only to play there CD a month later and absolutly love them. Then i see them live when they are headlining and they sound awesome.

A good example is BLS, I like a few of there songs, i can even tolorate Zack's singing, but everytime i see them on ozzfest i think they sound like shit and one big mush, can hardley tell note definintion during rythem.

By the way, that is one of my dreams, to open up my own club, every band will get the same amount of wattage, the same detail and will all sound great (unless they sound like shit in general) If a headlining band does not like it, screw them, they get paid to play, not paid to tell me how i run my club.
