just shows how good he is when he sounds and plays that good live! Not many guitarists can play like that on stage-but can bluff it in the studio sitting down!got to say that pit was piss poor!

It's SO fucking nice to see them play for a crowd like that..

I met and got to know these guys when there was less than 50 people at their shows..

I'll never forget the day Jeff Laughed at me for praising his playing so damn much..

            Back in '96 nobody cared...but I did!

I have a lot of metal and know all the players involved..old and new..Alot of my bros here know that!!

In the early days of Mike Varney's spotlight ..all the Shrapnel guys were looked at like gunslingers that kept pushing the shred envelope..Greg Howe, Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, Eddie, George Lynch, Gilbert, Batio, Vai, Satch, Kotzen, Becker, Freidman, Randy, YJM and ect..just when I thought I heard and saw it all to the point of where can go from here ..people grew tired of it..to the point where Anti-shred was cool ala Nirvana..and shred was percieved as "gay"..

I stumbled upon Jeff thru a mutual friend who introduced us ten years ago..I really was taken back to the days of my youth when I first heard VH..

Yngwie didn't even make that kind of impact even with his tremedous virtuocity and .. it was similiar to what other players such as MacAlpine, Vinnie moore was doing, and Uli Roth has done before.

I must say that Nevermore is hands down my favorite metal band today, they have brought a much needed breathe of fresh air to metal and guitar is general..IMO!!

Jeff is to me today what Ed was to me back then..I'm striving to be on that level..I'll prolly never reach it...But Jeff raised the bar far beyound Ed's abilities. What I once worshipped now bores me to tears..not only in playing but Tone and writing as well..shred evolutionized to greater heights than ever before..

Jeff still doesn't recieve enough recognition IMO..any credit that dude gets..he truly deserves ..he busted major hump to get where he's at..it's GREAT to see people really appreciating what he has brought to the table..

Jeff Loomis is the epitome of a guitar heroe that should grace the covers of every single guitar publication..and the most humble player I have ever met! You must remeber this..I knew of Jeff when the likes of Wes Borland, Tom Morello, Kirk Hammett, Mushook. Tremonti , Korn and that ilk was gracing the covers of GW for almost a decade..so, keep that in mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The truth is, and I know this, The guy doesn't know nor apply theory whatsoever..he just gets ideas in his head and just applies those ideas..he feels silly to have a Guitar World column and can't expain musically what is it he's done or doing..he felt obligated to learn the entrance level basics of theory just so he can attempt to explain some things that he does...this is true guys.

He's just a natural and exceptional talent..and the only advise he ever offers is the same he follows.."just go for it".

He was considered for Megadeth at age 16/17 but Dave thought that Jeff looked WAY too young and he didn't want to be upstaged everynight by a "kid"..so he got Marty...who was already an established shredder at the time.

It was Dave Mustaine that discovered and produced Sanctuary's first record in '88..who eventually morphed into Nevermore.

I must admit Dave has a knack for finding amazing talent!

                      too cool!

here's a couple of more good clips
the vocal mix is a little too in front but it's not bad.
                        My favorite Nevermore song.

                          now THAT's metal.

One of my favourite Loomis solos is his solo on Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday. That's just simply amazing

Jeff:Yes, I’m actually going to be working on a solo album for, probably, Century Media, I’m not sure. I’m trying to find the right musicians to put together, to complete the project. It basically going to be an all-instrumental kind of thing. So I’m really excited about that. I wanted to do it for a lot of time. And a lot of the fans have been asking for this also, so I’m pretty excited about that too. It will be released probably sometime around the middle of 2006. "

any news about this? Is it still happening?

Hey I totally agree with all that! I've heard the Loomis demo at age 16 and he had -almost- as much chops back then as he does today! I was wondering if you knew at what age Jeff started playing to be that good at 16. I didn't even start till I was 17 and I'm Jeff's age.

BTW do you know who the 2nd guitarist will be for their DVD shoot? I like Chris B but wish it was Steve Smyth as I am a big fan of his songs on TGE.
