yup, they are about the heaviest band I like. I just got into them from hearing you guys rave about em. cool beans.
I love metal but it has to have melody. that's where I draw the line. and they fit the bill.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

NM kicks all kinds of ass. My drummer just recently turned me on to them, which I'm thankful for. For the last 8 years, the only thing I have really listened to is DT... god, I'm so in the dark.

Jeff should ditch the Krank ..it's the worst live tone he's ever had..I've seen him with every set up he's had including a POD pro and it cut thru better than the Krank does..
The leads seem to come thru OK but his rythms are mud which sucks because he's such a awesome rythm player and that stuff is pretty complex.."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

I'm gonna hav to say it, Nevermore's the most important band in metal right now! Nobody else is pushing the limits of composition and virtuosity like they are, and turning out listenable music. They should be way more popular!I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine. - Ayn Rand

Loomis replaced Eddie for me..he gives me that same inspiration I had a LONG time ago..when I was a kid!"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

I have a question..why is it so common place to cling onto past guitar heroes who lost their mojo years ago..or just peaked 20 years ago..I can understand the loyalty factor for guys like Lynch or Ed that made you want to pick up the guitar..I know this!
but why be blinded to the facts of life..
The fact is Metal/shred has evolved..players have raised the bar in skill level..leaving the has beens far in the dust..
accpet that..you can't be the "king" forever..they all have their place and are immortalized by their contrabutions..leave it at that..
Move on instead of waiting for something that will never happen..while the scene is jumpin' with hungry new great players, that took the ball and ran with it..
These are my thoughts after being a loyal fan and player over 27 years..or longer..since 1978!
Guitar have evolved since 1978..for the better, acknwoledge it amd embrace it..I think!!!Last edited by horns666; 07-23-2006, 05:50 AM."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

We get emotionally attached to our guitar heroes and have trouble realizing that they are human, and some peake early while others keep progressing.
Ed had everything a man could want at an early age. In 1976 he was in a club band with a following. By 1979 he was God, with money, a fine wife, and the adoration of all. He started to rest on his laurels and get smug.
When Roth called him on it - "No one wants to hear you play keyboards" - he threw a tantrum and ran Dave off. Then he got Sammy in, having consolidated his power, and wrote a bunch of pussy love songs to show Dave that people WOULD listen to his keyboard playing! The problem is thaqt Ed NEEDED Dave needling him, to have his fire. Sure it was less comfy for him, but necessary to his greatness.
Can you imagine Dave in studio with Ed in 1986, saying, "Hey pal, this Yngwie kid and his clones are smokin' your ass! You better quit pulling your pud and get in the studio and do something!" Instead he had Sammy who'd say everything he did was great because it came from the mind of Mister Edward Van Halen. Dave's pushy ass could have kept Ed moving forward. It was a crucial mistake to let Dave go, even though Sammy's a much better singer. Sammy is not a catalyst; Dave was, and is.Ron is the MAN!!!!

I absolutely agree with that Rich, and at one time I related to those emotions to the T..
But as I was waiting for my childhood heroe to kick ass again..so many others came and went thru the years..
now there is a new breed that far exceeds the likes of what Ed was doing in 1976..granted I know he planted the seed..as did Page, Hendrix and such..
but things just evolve..
Some players stand the test of time..Uli is one example..that bastid is better than ever..I can't deny that, not at all..I was completely humbled at his show..I walked out of Lynch's show..what a difference!!
I would prolly not even attend a VH show..or may walk out if I do..I wouldn't go there with high expectations..that's for certain..
There will ALWAYS be a place in my heart for ED..but he's the epitome of self inflicted drama and a mess..I can't repsect someone who has zero respect for themselves..it makes it quite difficult..
Would you agree that guys like Vai, and Becker..who were Ed's replacements 20 years ago were on a much higher level in skill by that time...I thought so..maybe that's why he threw the towel..I dunno..he just said ..fuggit."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
