  • Moore Gary more! Vid...

Man, vibrato is a lost art it seems... I love Gary's vibrato on this, and his fast playing is awesome too. Great Les Paul/Marshall tone!

Gary Moore RULES..I don't which one I would choose Sykes or Moore..both were so firey and damn good together..

Man, I just picked up "Scars"..pretty firey/bluesy stuff..it's a mixed bag of tunes..some like SRV, some Hendrixy..some like Cream..it's pretty good..

But my favorite Gary is Cooridoors of power and Victims of the Future..his others stuff was great too..Dirty Fingers, G Force , Run For cover, After the war, wild frontier..that was all his rockin' stuff..

then he went to blues which he killed on..but I always prefered his firey rock side..

In hindsight..he fucked up and should have went with Ozzy..he was his first pick, Gary introduced Randy to Ozzy..so I guess that's good in a way..because Randy really fit that like a glove, and he graced us with his talent..But you have to woder what if..what would those two first Ozzy albums be like with Gary..hmmmm interesting..

    Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

I agree that Gary Moore Rules. I disagree about Gary introducing Randy and Ozzy and that Gary should have joined Ozzy. I don't know that Gary even met Randy and he just would have been screwed out of his $ like everyone else that has worked with Ozzy.

Randy did meet Gary (there was a blurb about it in a recent Guitar World), but I'm not sure about the time frame. Gary even went so far as to say that he thinks Randy used a bit of the melody and chord progession on Parisienne Walkways for the interlude in Mr. Crowley...

Yep, this is what Gary stated!!

Gary was Ozzy's first choice..But Gary declined to do his G-Force on Jet Records..that label sounds familar huh..??

I also read somewhere that Sykes was in the running for Ozzy's band after Randy died. I think that would have been interesting. I guess Schenker was asked as well.

Gary is all about tone, and he has it in spades....

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I always thought George Lynch would have worked back in the day with Ozzy..he would fit that bill..I think

                I could see Moore/Sykes..

Schenker would have been an odd choice..I can't place Schenker's notched wah tone and style in Ozzy's material...I dunno maybe..

Craig Goldy would have worked too I think..and maybe John Norum.

I think Lynch would have worked well with Ozzy...also Sykes. I don't know about Gary...Sykes for sure, especially with that crushing rhythm style and tone he has. Hands down, the best rock/metal rhythm guy out there.

I also think Sykes shines best in slow solo spots where he can really milk that tone and vibrato, like "Is This Love". Gary has a great slowhand style as well, but he always seems like an 18 year old kid...you can hear him in his head going, "think about baseball", or I guess it would be "think about Cricket"...then he can't hold out...starts ripping and blows his load! Never fails...every song.

Goldy? Really Bill? I always thought he was about as average as they come.

I think you finally said something I disagree with.

Nah..seriously..I always thought that fucker was average too..yes I did...I saw him on the Magicka tour with Dio..and his solo blew me away..

That was right after I heard Yngwie jackin' off for over an hour..too!!!...He's "amazing/amusing" for approx 15 minutes for me..after that zzzzzzzzzzzz...

The five minute solo Goldy took made the entire house scream, took me by total surprise..the crowd didn't scream for Malmsteen, not much anywhoo..I think some people were actually sleeping..until Jorne came from behind the Mashall Stacks to sing 2 two songs..

You wouldn't disagree if you were there..he is more than I thought he was..

I agree with Horns666......Cooridors and Victims are SOOOOO great!

I even have the UK version with this LP cover:

                        Charvel: Model1, 2 & 5, Surfcaster 12
                        Jackson: DK2, JRS-2, Kelly

+10000! Damn, as soon as he hits a note he sounds awesome, he just has "it". He's one of those guys I always read about in the mags but never heard his stuff. A couple months ago, I picked up Wild Frontier from the used CD store near me. His playing is great but the songs/lyrics/singing are just ok for me. I'll try to find Corridors or Victims, or maybe try one of his blues albums. I really dig his slow playing, awesome tone and vibrato. What album is Parisienne on?

He can even do it with single coils!

Gary Moore is one great guitar player. No toys in the middle to fuck up the sound. One Strat, One Pick, and years of great playing.

The problem with alot of Gary's rock oriented solo stuff is that it sounds like it could be the soundtrack for a Rocky movie. His blues stuff is much less cheesy, and still has the fireworks aplenty.
