Gene Simmons AXE bass went for about $30,000 a few years ago as did Ace's black LP Custom 3 hum Gibson. I wonder how much Paul's cracked glass Iceman would go for?

I don't think it would go for a million but Malcolm Young's Gretsch is an interesting guitar in the history of rock considering he used it almost exclusively for about the first 20 years of the band's existence. It's been a lot of places and recorded their biggest songs. I don't think Angus was as loyal to any one specific SG as Malcolm was to his guitar.

                  Dickie Betts Goldtop LP

But, there is no original BB King Lucille. The original Lucille burned in a fire. Ever since then, BB has been receiving a never ending line of Lucille's from Gibson, about 1 a year. There's got to be about 50 of them at this point.

Rory Gallaghers '61 Strat. He's not real big in the states but was huge in Europe. That guitar is every bit as recognizable as Stevie's #1.

Someone mentioned Frampton's '59 Les Paul Custom. It was destroyed in a plane crash in South America back in the late 70's or early 80's.

Nope, I heard tonight that Robert Johnson's Gibby is up for auction. Opening bid is 6 million..OPENING BID.

I think that is gonna be it.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Yeah claptons "blackie" was sold to Guitar Center for about $950.000. It's in a vault at the Hollywood store on display. It's sad really guitars are meant to be played but i guess with somethign that valuable it should be protected.
Gc also bought SRV's Lenny for about $470.000 i think. Becks Oxblood 59, Chuck Berry's 335, Hendrix's #1, Santanas original PRS (the one that got stolen then recovered> of course it will have more value after carlos passes on. As will most guitars after their owners demise. Iommi's Original 62 les paul sg custom.

Yeah, it is a shame that lots of those legendary guitars will go unplayed, but it is better than it being stolen or lost forever.

There's a television program here called "Nandemo Kantei Dan" (We'll Appraise Anything). People drag their heirlooms out and have them appraised. Most people are very disappointed in how much the samurai armor which had been passed down in their family for generations and other such "antiques" are actually worth.

I tell my wife, though, that the more guitars that I have, the more guitars she can have appraised as having belonged to the guitarist of the "Legendary Band without a Fan" after I'm dead
Until you get weaned off the boobie, you are going to have to do what the wife wants too. -Rsmacker
