  • The making of a HUGE rack (Petrucci)

Mark Snyder (Petrucci, Metallica,....) building Petrucci's latest rig (Roadkings / Lonestars).

It is quite frankly...insane. I mean the shockmount rack alone probably costs as much as a small appartment, eventhough it's probably as big as one too.

    Petrucci's a spoiled guy.Just buy a 2000 dollars amp and play it.But no,he needs a 200.000 dollars rack and a tehcnician works for 500 dollar/hour
    I wish my hair-color was EDS :/

Didn't see that one yet, Petedz. Great vid!

There's other Demo vids as well, the coolest is probably the one where he demos his IIC+ rack (the sound on that is INSANE). And of course the Budokan review.

Saw them last year for Gigantour! Best live sound I've EVER heard by far!! By any band! When Megadeth came on after, they sounded like a wet tape compared to Dream Theater! Whatever it takes I guess!! Can't say much though, cuz I'm a gearwhore myself!
          I love admins!

I don't understand why he needs Roadkings for high gain and Lonestars in a whole separate set-up for clean. I thought the whole deal with the Roadking is that it has everything in it including the Lonestar cleans. So why not just change from one of the high gain channels on the Roadking to the clean one? I guess it is a problem I will never have to worry about.

I would love for John to walk in at the end, after its all finished, and be like "Yeah, uh. . I dont think I really want all this, I think Im just gonna use a Mark III combo... so if you could just. . put all this shit back into its packaging, that would be great. . thanks.."

The fact is that Roadking's cleans don't sound like Lonestar's cleans.

I like his "dry" tone, has like 6 repeats and is drenched in reverb.

                          Mike
Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

it is different from person to person, but not huge fan of his tone. somehow sterile, and on fast runs it's just all the same

                            i like it more lively

The first series of RKs didn't have the Lonestar cleans. The second series (supposedly) does.

I do know is that the cleans in my RK mk.1 are great.
