Neal Young for sure.
Kerry King? As much as I don't care for his whammy bar/chromatic leads...Slayer is frigging tight!
Live, Angus plays some sloppy leads but on recordings those boys are tight too.

Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick. Dunno if it qualifies as being sloppy, but when I saw them many many years ago, he only seemed to hit out a chord or two per song, spending most of his time throwing/handing out pics, or changing guitars. In a forty minute set (supporting Crue back in.....oh 1985-ish!!!) he must have changed guitars at least twice per song, and never the same one twice!
Dave Mustaine - sloppy-as-a-very-sloppy-thing. Well, live at least. Possibly something to do with skag!So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!
I nearly broke her back

I saw Aerosmith at the House of Blues...it was an all blues set, unannouced. Perry was awesome, but Whitford wiped the florr with his ass. I always thought Brad was a rhythm only dude, but he can solo really well. I was taken by surprise on that.
MikeSleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I saw SRV early on and thought he was sloppy. Then I got his album and my jaw dropped. Really he bangs the hell out of the strings. His riffs just don't sound right unless you get his complete picking arm movement beating the strings.
I would put Jimmy Page at the top of sloppy players. I don't even consider Neil Young a guitarist. Just a singer who strums, generally off-beat.

Originally posted by Seventh Avengedim surprised how joe was always the 'sole' lead player, because i always heard what a ripping lead player brad was when they found him.

Anyone who says Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are tight should be shot in the face.
Seriously, some of the most sloppy players ever, but still kickass!
Jimi Hendrix, SRV, most blues players I find to be pretty sloppy actually, as far as actual technique goes.
Alexi Laiho just sucks alltogether, post FTR.
Personally, the tighter a player is, especially on rhythm, the more badass he is to me. Think about guys like Gary Holt and Eric Peterson - these guys have their shit down-pat, it's amazing how tight they are.
