and for all the people throwing Pagey into the sloppy category, I agree that for many of their live shows he was smacked out and didn't do the material full justice, but on the records the dude was spot on, and as far as Acoustic playing goes, he was very precise.

fuck, no one tops Page on the acoustic, for sheer creativity and incredible hooks, no one is even in the same ballpark.

brad has played almost as much lead as joe throughout the years, even today. dude's a berklee school of music guy, and he can fuckin' wail for sure.

someone earlier in the thread mentioned sloppy lead playing being what rock and roll is all about. that person is 100% correct. it's not about playing algorhythms with your guitar cranked up under your nose.

to me, page is a fantastic rhythm and acoustic player. i think that soloing was not one of his fortes, especially live.

How about Steven Stills? That guy can properly abuse one with the best of them...

How about my man Frank Zappa ?!? Sloppy and tasty at the same time. He recorded some of the most blistering solos for his time. Great sound outta that SG. Do I get an Amen ??

                            Eric Clapton,

I was so excited when I saw the Cream reunion CD on the shelf and then when I got it in the car and listened to it I was so disappointed. He could have done better on that.

Larry can shred his ass off much better than in the Possessed days... he's a Joe Satriani student! He just goes for the weird stuff to fit Primus.
