yeahh the mags at the time said he was amazing for doing that solo! That solo is garbage, pure and simple-he can play the guitar well apart from solos!

I saw Living Colour open for the Stones in '89 at Shea. Talk about a trainwreck - they had everything going against them - they were sloppy, the crowd was not into them and the sound was shite.-------------------------

I have seen Vernon Reid live twice, and he was not too sloppy when I saw him. I would call it more like, controlled chaos...I think his whole soloing style is to sound intentionally like a trainwreck...since he is from that experimental jazz background. He can motor like a motherfucker though, let me tell you...and he can play an organized, not quite discordant, solo when he wants to.
MikeSleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Yeah.I saw AIC open for VH on the FUCK tour..nobody knew or cared who they were..nobody was sitting in their seats..all out taking a pee or buying beer..
The whole stadium was friggin' empty..I was blown away by these guys.."Man in the box" just hit the radio..it was still pretty new..
I guess Jerry and Ed became good friends during that time and Ed gave Jerry like five 5150 stacks and some Ernie Ball geetars..I remember reading that.."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

When AIC hit the streets I really dug it. It was "new" but there was alot of good old fashioned metal in there...and Cantrell has great tone and really good bluesy chops. I think they really peaked with "Dirt" that record is still almost a daily listen while at work...great stuff. I would have liked to have seen them. Never got the chance.

I've got Michael Hedges' Aerial Boundaries cassette somewhere. Awesome album! I remember winning some Windham Hill Records sampler album at my high school, like '86 or so, and the one song that really stuck out was Aerial Boundaries, so I had to pick that one up. Just amazing!I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
