I am a long time Maiden fan, have all their albums so far...Has anyone heard the new clips on Maiden's website? Personally I think it sucks ass, its really repetitive and the song really just goes no where and its 7 mins long! what the piss?! I have a feeling the new album is going to be even gayer than dance of death was...

Saw the show on MTV2 on the making of...i thought the parts I heard sounded good. A little different, but good.
BTW, in the background of the studio, a quick shot or two of a JACKSON DoubleNeck in RED!
NICE.

I lost interest in Maiden after Somewhere in Time, which I thought kinda stunk. I am a Maiden fan from the PD days and I love everything up to Powerslave, their last really good record. That is all just my opinion though.Scott
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.

From what ive heard it sounds very drawn out. I watched that making off, and there are some killer riffs in the songs, but they all seem WAY too long. A good example is Different Worlds, some good riffs and solos, but a bit too much.
There arent many Janick songs on it, which i think may be its undoing. I think he writes the strongest material, with Smith second. For example, Montsegur is the only song worth a damn on Dance of Death..

i pre-ordered the new CD but haven't received it yet. i agree that some of the later songs songs are way drawn out, but i like where they have gone, considering their ages. i would be disappointed if they just kept redoing "number of the beast". as i get older and my tastes change, maiden has been right there. i consider them "metal lite" these days. my mom even commented that they are like easy-listening for me now!!!!
i can't wait to get the new record!! now, if they would just come to FL....or even GA, so i could catch them live.....GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I never Got Dance of Death. I did hear one song off the new album while I was in the car a couple weeks ago... I don't know the name of the song, but it was kinda dark, sounded decent to me, I just thought it was from the last Dickinson solo album (which I never got either) until it was over and they said it was new IM. I've pretty much liked most of what they've done, but if the songs are just long and drawn out and go nowhere, I'll probably hate it like I hated the fucking awful Virtual XI (except for the song Futureal).I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

heard the whole thing this weekend.
every song (ok most) starts with accoustic guitar and bass. and everysong (ok most) sounds like the chorus of Brave New World over and over again.
i love the boys, but its clear to me that they are out of ideas and just sticking to what they think is their formula.
on a side note. i heard they refused to master this album claiming that every master they got back didn't sound as good as mix down. so they just went to press with it.

I went to a release party last week, couldn't disagree more...maan am I tired of these "things ain't the way they used to be" debacles!!
I think it is really good, having heard it only once...the single, ("Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg) is very simple in a Maiden context, but after hearing it a few times I think it is a cool track. There were many good songs on the new album, track #4 comes to mind as being maybe the best.
Bruce's voice is more powerful than ever, he couldn't sing anywhere near this good back in the 80's from the live tracks I've heard in the past, he just has unbelieveable range and control. I loved Dance Of Death too, but hey..to each his own!!
rock on

Although I have everything(yeah, even the 2 s**t ones), I stopped listening after Seventh Son, stuck with Bruce through the 1st release and later releases with Adrian. I was listening to Psycho Motel lastnight and Adrian's work on that is incredible. You'd never expect it from listening to the Maiden stuff. The past few have been a bit slow and drawn out for me but I'll get it and give it a shot.
