  • Jim Root Charvel - Slipknot

One of my favorite Slipknot songs is "Before I Forget". The live version you can watch on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj8VpWuAkJ4. Everytime I watch this video I keep thinking how I wish they would make a signature model of the Charvel Jim Root is using. I read somewhere that this was a prototype guitar that Jackson made for him. Does anybody know what happened?

Jim goes through guitars like crazy. he wanted a fender sig model and they wouldn't do it for him. he's still playing different tele models. the charvel is just a one off deal i believe. he doesn't even play it anymore. it's in storage now.

Yeah, Someone on the PRS board has a PRS Standard made for Jim Root on the PRS Forum....Good taste in guitars. EMGs, 3way Switch...nice custom axe.

In new Jackson Catalog 2006 he is with Custom Made Jackson Stealth. Black, with white binding, EMG pickups, Tune-O-Matic bridge stuff like that.

IMO rosewood board and dot inlays on a custom guitar is not a sign of good taste in guitars I like his Charvel though

wow, he has more customs than i thought. i knew he used PRS' in Stone Sour.

but yeah, last i heard, he was using a few strathead charvels alex perez made for him.

                Lord, that PRS above rules.

That's a Warrior. A Jackson Stealth would be a very thin Dinky-type body similar to an Ibanez Sabre/S series. You might be thinking of a B.C. Rich Stealth that looks similar to a Warrior.

Sorry. I was messing with my Jackson Stealth and that fucking word stuck in my head. Ofcourse Warrior.

On a semi-related note, I was at a party with a mutual friend of Jim's the other night and we got talking about Jim's gear. Jim is on tour with Stone Sour right now and is apparently playing Orange amps now.

I plugged into one today and they definitely do sound great - although they're more classic rock than metal that's for sure.

I'm not big on slipknot so excuse my ignorance, but isn't mick thompson in play of Jim Root?

I don't know what you mean, but they're both the guitar players in Slipknot.

That is without a doubt the most boring PRS 1-off I have ever seen. I like PRS guitars, and I like black guitars, and I even like rosewood boards on certain models, but come on. That thing is completely un-inspiring, IMHO. Bleh.

Strange volume knob placement on that PRS.
