Cool - I've not seen that pic before, so thanks for sharing that

Looks like he needed one of Dave's pickup rings

I wouldn't be surprised if Hetfield still has it. IIRC, In the 'Some Kind of Monster' movie, Metallica tells Rob Trujillo that between Kirk and James, they have ~1500 guitars. (At least that's what I remember, the number may be off)

Interesting to see how he has his settings marked on the Boogie back there.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

A Guitar Player (I think) magazine back in the early 90's had James and Kirk on the cover and James was holding that guitar - except that the Jackson logo was covered by a sticker that read "Kill Bon Jovi."

wow, looks different than any V I've seen him with. Always thought he kept EMG's in every guitar. (until recent time Gibson escapades)
Notice he has moved the selector switch slightly too?

cool pic nevertheless I'd guess it's from around AJFA era.

I believe word is that the guitar was destroyed while on tour many years ago.

He split the neck down the middle, all the way. So it's unplayable, pretty much.

                      Very cool picture btw, Monty!

No way, that's way earlier,..either master or even ride, but definitely Cliff days!

Taping up the B and E strings to stop 'em ringing out when you're recording rhythm parts... cunning plan...

Is that the settings written above each knob on the Mesa Boogie amp?
